Mate I just do mine to factory spec 50Nm (oiled) and nipped up firm the one under the water outlet. Attached is some torques and wear limits from the 05 manual in case you don't have it.

in my engine with those JBS studs and an iron liner i do to 100Nm

dont do it on alloy liner , they crack around the upper flange at about 60Nm
 
Yeah, I guess it's really going to depend on what type of head gasket your going to run too.

Think I read that you can get away with OEM with a 102mm piston? :dontknow:

It's worth noting that lubricating the threads will increase the tension too. I like to do it for consistency between the fasteners.

Iron liner on it's way from Westwood so I intend keeping oil, water and compression inside the motor by torquing down a little harder than standard spec.
Gonna have to check valve to piston clearance just in case there's an issue with the 1mm oversize I'm using. I'd be surprised if there was but I'd be daft not to check!:p

That piston appears to be the same Wiseco as mine, 102mm 660cc?
I have rings supplied by Vic Eastwood motorcycles, UK. Don't waste your time trying to contact Wiseco.com USA as they won't answer. Hope that helps.

Piston ring gap?
Looks like the rings supplied by Wiseco may need adjusting for gap, what's the minimum I should set? Can't find info on minimum?

Hey there canolman,

Most piston manufacturers (CP, Ross, ACL) recommend a ring end gap of between 0.015" - 0.018" for our 4" bore size.

So converted to metric, 100 mm bore will be 0.38mm - 0.46mm

I note in the workshop manual it states 0.6mm MAX for comp and 0.8mm for oil but no MIN value. Normally the oil is the slightly smaller but I suppose these are max clearances? Interesting.....

Compression ring gapped at 0.40mm. The oil ring rails had a gap of 0.30 when fitted so checked with Wiseco UK and they said that they were fine and to fit them as is.
So I did!
 
With the ribs on this liner I had to be a bit creative when fitting the piston and liner as it won't slide in. The balancer timing marks are a bit tricky too but where there's a will there's a way.
The liner is an exact copy of the two JBS liners I have and is a fraction smaller diameter where the cases clamp together at the head, steel having a different expansion rate? I have two spare sets of cases and when all three liners were clamped in (upside down) all could be pulled out easily, the standard liner could also but a little tighter, surprised me that as I thought they were clamped tight but I suppose the head holds the liner down under the 'top hat'?
 
If the studs are ARP, they (ARP) would determine the proper torque.
