so... out of curiosity, if the factory bikes had a special cam, does anybody know what the actual cam number designation is? maybe they are not marked? wonder if sombody knows for sure

Duke video review of the mx world championship will show Joel's bike, the review of the 1998, or perhaps the year ealier year would show many pictures of the bike. It would be good as part of your overall collection? Those bikes I cannot ride as I really could not keep the front wheel down when I opened the throttle. I also got very tired trying to ride it.....very impressive machine and not heavy.

Me and a friend of mine discovered one in a haystack he bought it and is already working. The clutch cover is not the original one says 6 speeds but it only has 4 speeds (must have split in a fall). Undoubtedly it is an FC600 Smets-Replica # 13

Someone has photos of this motorcycle to see if the plastics are the originals !?
We did a motorcycle review especially on the carburetor. Cold start picks the 1st / 2nd
There are a few things to do before we can ride ...

Regardless of of many gears are in the engine 3, 4, 5 or 6, the outside case will always display 6. There was not a special casting for models other than a 6 speed.

what makes it a replica? they never made replicas of anything!

and if it is a replica it would be a 501 surely and not a 600?

agree with bahnsy on the cover.

The 10th letter of your vin "o" is supposed to be the year but "o" was not used so either this is an error or this bike was not compliant for export (at least to the U.S.)

Part # H39004301 SEAT COVER "SMETS 1997" NORMAL $114.78

This part shows up in the U.S. Parts Catalog as still available. I bought one of these some time ago and have it somewhere. It is a different cover than the one on the DCR replica, a Tecnosel, which I have one of them also.

I remember looking through the digital parts catalog maybe 6 years ago and ran across a Smets SEM ignition. I am guessing it had a lighter flywheel.

Running a search on Smets only turned up 2 parts. The seat cover and the ignition.
