Canadian vin numbers vs US vin numbers?

My search yields nothing regarding this. Will US vin number show that it is US Berg? If I bring it over from US in parts, then go to register it will ministry of transport know from vin? I am getting impatient trying to get 650 in Ontario and no luck since March. In US there is more of them. Pls chime in if you know.
 
Yes that I know, see we can't import any Berg from US, but we can get parts. So say us bike happened to be in Canada, what then? Would registration office know that it is us bike?
 
My bike came from Europe, and it is street plated in Canada, I would just go get it, bring it home and then work out what I need to do to get it Canadianized , after I got it home.Buy a frame, something like that.
Been in and out of the states with bikes 25 times, and never been asked to open the trailer.

What's in the trailer? and do you race for money? that's it.

Importation

You just have to import it as a regular dirt bike. Then work out the details. They usually look for the label that says "This vehicle conforms to all USA and Canadian motor vehicle safety standards in effect at time of mfg. " or a label to that effect. Some jurisdictions vary on that and the bikes are all identical regardless of that. Vin # won't signify USA or Canada.
 
Thanks Punk! I might be getting frame here in Canada 2008 like I wanted:cool: and the rest from US. Talking to those people now. Now how am I supposed to find time to assemble it?:eek:
 
Punk is correct, it has nothing to do with a usa or Canada vin all the same. The vin shows origin and year and manufacture specs nothing to do with where the bike is made for.
When the bike is sold to a dealer from the manufacture is comes with a NVIS document. The NVIS New Vehicle Information Statement will note if the vehile is for "Off Road Use Only" and unless you know a insurance agent who can override this when registering than you are out of luck. Most Husa's came with the vehicle use part blank and not saying off road use only even knowing they did not meet transportation safety requirements such as approved tires, lights, horn etc. Every motorcycle I purchase new I make the dealer give me the NVIS document as it belongs to the bike. With this document all you need to do is register it with your insurance company and get a plate. All my off road bikes have plates but unless I put lights and horn ect. I keep them off the road as all it takes is a cop to pull you over and roadside you for an inspection and then your history.

Unless the frame has a set registration papers it does no good, it will never pass a provincial inspection and be approved. Must have papers and have been previously registered. Importing into country is a federal inspection and the only inspection done coming into Canada is checking the vin matches the import papers and daytime running lights, I did tons of these. Provincial is the big one and the only one that can get you on the road.
 
Did not read the 650 part haha. Was it previously registered with a plate in the USA? If it was then it must not be on the "BAD" List. We have a list of bikes that are not allowed to be used on road allot of Husas did not make it to that list. It all started when guys motarded two stroke dirt bikes and put them on the road, allot of stunting and the forces to be got pissed off and blacklisted a ton of bikes. You need to call you insurance company in the province you are in and look on the list to see if your model is on it, If yes your screwed, If no then bring it across the line and go to customs after with documents and import it in. I know here in BC the only federal inspection facilitys are Canadian Tire for the import, than any approved bike shop for inspection then plate it.

This is a step by step on how to get your bike in without any BS, it looks like it wont be that hard. About three week at most to get a plate on it.

RIV Admissibility list. The PDF list link seems to work best on this website. If it is not on the list, you will probably not be able to import it. Thanks mate, but I have already double checked this and sadly Husaberg is not on the lost of admissible vehicles. This means that we are not allowed by ths socialist rule to import it. Transport Canada makes this list and gives it to riv. I have also talked to transport Canada and yes, this is indeed true.:furious: We can bring it in parts and then reassemble back. Go to justice of the peece and pretend that it is Canadian bike somethin something story, with that paper go to mto and just hope to god that they make new ownership for you. This is the reason I was asking if us frames ha e vin numbers identifying it as us bike. Apparently it doesn't say so.

O yes they were! I have 07 Fs550. In Hamilton there was only 2-3 weeks ago 2001 Fe650. On the west coast they have more of them. In Ontario they are very rare.

15 years and older vehicles are exempt from RIV ... anything else is RIV rules and nothing else matters. The admission list they publish makes sure that the vehicles are somewhat in line with Transport Canada expectations of what they would call roadworthy. It's not on the list you are out of luck ....

Yes the efing riv drives me nuts! I call them socialist/ communist rules. They ae " government/establishment wants to tell us what we must and can't do. F ing top elite.... What would they do without us reg folks? Anyway I had to get that off my chest. Now how was your day?:p. Brain storm how to sidestep efing rules. One last ***.:furious:
 
It got way worse when people started buying vehicles from the dealers new in the usa. I know we would not allow any warranty as they were purchased in the usa. It became a political issue as the dealers in the usa could sell cheaper and by the time exchange and import is was still thousands less. We now export all used trucks to usa as they pull more at auction then what we can get retail on the lot here. It all pends on the dam exchange rates. Our money should stay at par then all this **** would stop. Try and find a good used truck here, we keep all the junk and export all the low k good ones. anyways sorry this is off the forum topic of husa but still relates to the crappy boarder ****.
