I've been struggling to find spares to finish this season after blowing both my engines, building one out of the two to finish the last meeting, a dog with fleas but it got me over the line!;)
Seriously thought about a change of racing class but I like my singles. Got talking to a bloke who knew a bloke etc that might have some spare 650 parts he wanted to shift so we arranged a meet, a bit of banter and a firm handshake later I walked away with this!:D

Standard 628, refreshed at the start of the year but not run.
JBS 660, oversize mains, high flow water pump, KTM cam, looks like the ports have been flowed, about 5 hours on this motor, might need stem seals or rings, a little smokey but no problem was flying at last meeting and a very quiet motor:)
Spares include cases, rotor cover, starter motor, complete clutch assembly, CDI, coil, flywheel rotor, head, 7 new oil filters, piston, crank (worn tho!) Keihin 41mm FCR, various gearbox cogs and assorted gaskets!
Still delving into boxes and finding stuff!
We're back in business, happy days!:)

Found these amongst the spares, both have a chamfer to allow a tab washer to be used. In my opinion if your using a 650 for road racing this is essential. If the crank gear nut starts to loosen the gear can shatter. I think that the sudden acceleration and deceleration puts a lot of strain on this gear even with a cush drive in the rear wheel, I suspect that off road an amount of spin and slide greatly reduces this?

Cast iron? Very heavy compared to the standard, cut outs on both sides of the liner? I presume the extra ribbing is to give a bigger surface area for cooling.

Hmm! This cam is amongst the spares, I'm guessing it's the KTM cam with the water pump shaft cut off? The standard 628 has a cam marked 820-08 6/6837
The 660 has cam marked 08 4/7883
Are both these cams '08's?
