Hi,bike looks good! I'm another newbie having just bought a 501.
I'm in the UK but have family in Ireland.

I believe that there is/was one Husaberg dealer sout of de border in Dublin and you have HTM in Cullybackey in de Nort.

I have a long list of Irish customers here who i sell parts too. what county/town are you from?

Taffy

Thanks folks! :)

Taffy, bike was actually bought out of HTM and I put it on southern plates then. I'm between Wexford and Cork. I saw your site when I was wandering the internets, no doubt I'll be on to you for a few bits soon.

Cheers

I was over in May for the North-west 200 and visited Phil's workshop with my Alison to have a look around and meet him for the first time. I saw the 550 for sale. already, Phil says that there are no Husabergs about in the North - they've just disappeared!

I wish I kept details of SM riders v trail. I've just checked and I have about 20 names all from Cork to Wexford! I guess we could arrange something if you are interested. Cork seems to be a real biking corner...

I have a Polish customer who has lived in the Cork area for 15 years and to listen to his accent...... until you've heard it, you can't make it up!

regards

Taffy

You also have a Polish customer in Dublin, but I'm afraid my accent is pretty standard ;)
And my bike isn't finished yet either, very close though!

OP: love your machine, looks very clean!
I'd propose meeting one day but I don't think either of our bikes would like to make that distance ;)

Yes very few Husabergs on the whole island of Ireland. There's a nice looking FE450 on Donedeal at the moment, but that's a rare thing to see. The 550 you saw is my bike now!

Yeah I'd def be interested in an event of some kind, if that's what you mean. Gonna pick up a set of dirt wheels asap, it's more trails I'm interested in than sumo tracks. Are you involved in the Taffy Dakar actually? Given that your name is Taffy... :D

Haha Polish lads with Irish accents is the best ever, I've a Slovenian friend who's the same. Actually indescribable.

Cheers

Cescz! Don't be so humble, I bet your accent is 100% :D

Ha yes, it's a bit of a trek alright. If you are ever down this way then let me know, and I'll do the same. What is your bike and what work are you doing?

oddly enough, the last Husaberg force ride was whittled down to me and two Dutchmen a couple of years ago and we got permission to camp with Taffy Dakar 2. it was modelled on the Paddy Dakar

are you involved in that!

Well if you hear of anything, I'd be well interested!

Nah I'm not involved in the Paddy, would love to go but won't be able to get dirt wheels sorted for my Berg in time for this year and I think entry has closed or it sold out, not sure though. Are you coming over for it? Good few from that side of the water attend, there's some good vids on youtube of that and the Taffy.

the Paddy and the Taffy are big bike rally's so you shouldn't be elligable to do it I reckon. not trying to stop you mind but it is for big feckoff Beemers etc.

Yeah there is a bit of controversy for the Paddy anyway. I can see why I shouldn't be eligible to do it, but I only have one bike and just want to take part, not win. So I dunno! But I understand big bikers telling me to feck off to an enduro race.

it was something else to see all these priceless beemers on their cylinder heads.... the owners had never been off road and Wales is never dry, even when there's a drought - it's wet!

I can't believe that people would come back year after year for that? I mean once yeh but if your bike is usually polished this thing will have been a shock.

they do allow old enduro machines in. it is 2 years now but I saw a 2001 CCM 404 and a 1980s XT350 and that's the kind of bike they want there.

the thing is, there's a lot of money involved in it. the owners, the sponsors, the dealers, the manufacturers....they all want to extract money from the owner. the original Taffydakar organiser was going to start doing them all over the world the last In heard (last Feb at the Dragon Rally in Wales). There was going to be a Jockydakar, a Bratwurst Dakar or some such, a Romanie-Dakar etc.

of course it's all for love and "charity".

Taffy

Hah ah yeah, sure look. It's good craic anyhow. I found your website there I'll have a look through it this evening. Will need a few bits soon, chain and sprockets and stock up on service parts. Don't suppose you have any dirt wheels to fit my bike do ya? I have a feeling I need a whole front brake setup as well - master cylinder, hose, caliper + bracket?

I've got more chance of finding the other stuff - but wheels? nah!

I don't break Husabergs so i don't hold much. that lot I may have though.
