Can the kickstart assembly be removed, shaft, cogs 5 and 4, or does part 5 support the clutch hub? I'm thinking of removing the whole assembly to save weight and replace with a aluminium plug. Can't use the kickstart in this chassis and it's about 1kg! Every bit helps!;)

dont do that

it would be nice to see
a) type of bike: what percentage means 1 kg for the bike - is it really worthwhile removing it?
b) style of ride: in hard enduro, kick-start lever is a must.

I strongly discourage You to disassemble kick-start. Think about alternative solutions:
a) loose body-weight :)
b) other parts of bike chassis
c) replace whole bike with a newer-lighter one?
and other options.

Bobbex, check out my avatar:pp
A) loose body weight:D:D:DD
B) can't find anything else that's steel that I can re-make in aluminium, all bolts titanium
C) not possible!:spin::spin:

;)

Off Topic, I think most 70-degree owners disagree ;)
I once had to use my FX"s starter motor to get it up a few hills three of us couldn't drag it up after the in tank fuel line split.
That was some time ago and the starter is still as strong as ever.
