Hey guys,
Had some trouble finding gears last night on the way home..when i got home i discovered that the clutch master is leaking from the plunger/piston area on the master. It looks like its been leaking for a little while but i hadn't noticed it.

Anyway, i checked the fluid level and it it was very full and clean, it actually pushed some fluid out when i opened the lid..i put the lid back on and i have gears again but it still doesnt feel 100%

What is next step? master rebuild kit? i hear this is a common problem with this magura master?

Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Time for a rebuild, I used the piston for a brake master cylinder and now run it on brake fluid, slave cylinder is still ok.

Hi Berglsmerg, I unbolted the slave to inspect it today and as soon as i loosened off the bolts all the master fluid ran straight out of the slave cylinder..:furious:

The slave O-ring is stuffed, the piston and bore look fine with one tiny scuff on the slave bore. I am going to try fitting a new o-ring to the piston to see if that will fix the leak, i have a KTM p/n for a 23.52 X 1.78 mm o-ring that is meant to be the right one for this slave piston, can anyone confirm?

it is the slave that goes. it had to be upgraded. the drop at the top M/C was it crying for you!

they completely altered the design the next year.

regards

Taffy

Yeah taffy I want to upgrade the slave with a Rekluse adjustable slave soon but I just need to get it back up and running for now. Can anyone confirm the o-ring I listed above is the right size? Fitted to the piston it doesn't seem as snug a fit as the one I removed?

Take the piston with the o-ring to the local auto shop and match them up as close as possible. 10cent fix. Don't let anyone sell you a new slave cylinder because of an o-ring. Been a few years on mine now with an o-ring fix. Heck, buy 5 o-rings. Some people on here will hose you for an new slave when all you need is a 10 cent ring.

The O-ring worked perfect, fitted it up to the piston and lubed it with some mineral oil before reinstalling the piston and it hasn't leaked at all. Clutch is working perfectly but im still considering doing the Master rebuild to fix the plunger leak at the lever even tho its not leaking much at all since i flushed and bled the system.

Where can i buy the magura master piston kit direct?

Cheers for the input as always fellas!

One more question fellas, which magura clutch master rebuild kit is the correct one for the 2010 570? how can i find this out?

Cheers!

You can tell by the cap what model you have. Mine '12 390 has a 167 model.
Then the size is stamped somewhere I think.
