Hi all.

Was just wondering if anyone could help me with my 2005 Fe450e it makes a crunching/grinding noise when you take of too quickly in first if you know what I mean I thought it might be my friction plates but the bike only started to make this noise when I changed the sprockets from a 45 tooth rear to a 40 so I'm not sure what the cause is any help appreciated.

Check your oil and magnet on drain plug and cross your fingers.

sounds like the taller gearing is too much for the clutch. you'll need to get a new set of plates in there if you want to pull that gearing.

Cheers at least I can start to have a look at those and try to fix much appreciated guys ;)
 
there is often a "normal" shriek or shudder from the clutch under sudden hard slipping loads, ORANGEBERG noted this is as a result of the inner hub being slightly too close to the basket. casued by the large retaining washer being too thick on its back edge or the split washer it sits on being squashed .. may be useful info if you can't find the source

Try leaning the bike over on its left side for a few minutes as it might be a dry bearing in or around the clutch.

Check your oil screen. If your fiber clutch plates just can't take it anymore and are giving up the ghost all at once you will find clutch fiber material plugging up your oil screen.

Some of the steel plates could be warped.

Try flipping over the first steel plate under the pressure plate . Clean it good.

sometimes the back of #9 rubs on #1 because either it (#9) is too thick on its back edge or becasue #7 is squashed into the shaft splines too much.

Yep... that's why I bought two new half-washers (#7)... just to be safe. They are a wear item of sorts (according to some Youtube videos I saw of a RFS engine being torn down by a dealer mechanic).

Sorry guys I've been busy with my Husaberg and haven't had a chance to give a update.

I still hasn't sorted the problem because the old girl started making a horrid clack kind of noise to I have torn it apart to find the crank bearings failed and has taken the outer part of my bearing out.

So I'm in need of some new crank bearings and im also wanting to put some new rings in it but am having a lot of trouble getting parts here in Tasmania anybody know where I can get parts?

Cheers guys I've have had a quote of $2000 Australian to fix this thing and all they includes is full gasket kit, full seal kit, 2 crank bearings, new piston rings, and a new one way clutch or something to stop the starter motor from slipping and all labor costs included

I am unsure if this is a fair price or not but I'm on a really tight budget and would like to get it as cheap as possible.
 
All good I have contacted ORANGEBERG and he had helped me out heaps with information and parts much appreciated bushmechanic for the recommendation very good bloke to deal with.

Thankyou a lot guys I don't know what I would have done without you.
