I opened the valve cover to check the clearance on my 2010 FE 450 (125 hours).

I found too much play on the intake side, with one of the valve that had more than 0.2mm.

I removed the rocker arm and realized it was damaged, the shim as well had some marks and the rocker arm axis. Nothing really serious, but I decided anyway to change all parts.

When I started mounting the new parts, I realised, that on this valve, the shim doesn't go down as on the other 3 valves. The shim stays like 1mm higher, as if something prevent it to go in the correct position.

So fare I couldn't see anything, but I am a bit worried about this.

In the picture we can see that it's where the new shim (with the number on it) is located.

Can somebody help me?

Not related but you should remove the engine mounts that are on the picture. My dealer told me that husaberg told him to remove them. They claimed some benefit from it but the truth is that due to flex in frame and vibrations the mount on the head will get metal fatigue and there is a possibility for it to snap off. It has happened and it will most probably ruin the head. There are no real downsides to remove the brackets.

Never heard about this modification before Jon, so basically you remove the 2 bolts and the 2 plates that are holding the cylinder head?

Hi Jon, so I removed it, as you advised!

I just sent 2 pictures to make sure I understood correctly.

I read that removing those mounts also reduces possibility of the head gasket leaking (Ralleye racing)

did you try one of the old shims from another valve in the same spot ?
