Thanks for the comments guys! real help so far! I will be taking the basket off this evening. Hopefully haha.

Another quick question. Concerning the mag side. Can i use a puller ktm 525 puller to pop this flywheel off.

Think its an M26 thread.

yes I think so. they are M26 but can't recall 1.0 or 1.5mm.

Taffy

Thanks guys! Puller is ordered. On the other hand. Today I made a clutch basket holder. :)

Cut it out of some scrap, to make sure the design fits. Tomorrow I will need to get some aluminum and recut.

Well I picked up some 6mm aluminum. And decided to cut myself a slightly modified version of the previous clutch basket holder tool. It worked absolutely perfect! If anyone needs one let me know. I can either sent you a .DWG or. DXF file. Or cut and ship one for less than 20$

I also took my engine down the street to the ktm dealer. Said 20$ to take the flywheel off. So I figured yea let's do it. Well they ended up breaking their Puller! So I have to wait now till a new one arrives.

Cheers
Tim

I think I found a source of metal shavings I was concerned about.

When I disengaged the kick start decompression wire. The spring pushed the lever into the gear..

That is the kickstart decomp mechanism. You can remove it and just put a siliconed bolt/nut in to fill the hole.

Well. I have a few updates on my engine rebuild. Finally my kibble whites have shown up!

I spent some time last night on my Bridgeport mill, making clearance for the new springs.

I apologize for the sideways photos. Think its because ive taken them with my phone. Ill need to take a landscape shot with my phone for it to be upright.

Hi, the dual springs set came with the spacers (under the spring) or did you make that by yourself? What about the valve pressure with the new springs? The kibblewhite are softer i think.

There is a valve spring seat. which you can see in the picture. It also comes with a valve spring seat shim. I didnt use the shims. Easy to change if i were to need too. The spring pressure i don't know for certain, but it is for sure less than the conical springs. Somewhere in the 40-60lb range.

i got valve bounce at 60lbs

the KW spec is 80lbs but you can go a lot lower .. im running 65 with no problems

So I couldn't help it. The frame had a few rust spots showing, so I took it to the sand blasters. And just layer up the first cost of epoxy primer :)

So much for just taking a peak into the engine..:spin:

can also use bathroom scales in a press with a big backing plate

Well I finally got a little paint on the bike. After letting the 2 part epoxy primer cure up. I went to the local hardware and mixed up some husaberg blue alkyd enamel. Thinned it out and it sprayed on nicely. First coat down. 3 to go.
