I've been a lurker for quite some time, in fact thought I had an account, obviously not. Anyway, I'm here (officially) now. Wanted to see what you guys have tried and how far I may need to go (money-wise) to make the brakes proper on my '11 FS570.

The bike is new to me for this race season. I'll be doing some SM but more so racing it on road race type tracks. I got the bike out to the track and for some early season practice and noticed some brake fade. We have some pretty high speed sweepers leading to some pretty hard braking zones. When I ran some SM configurations, I didn't notice much/any brake fade... but the road race configurations - definitely.

I have the stock Magura setup with a KTM rotor. I have fresh Motul 600 race fluid in bled properly. Wondering if just going to a Beringer rotor will help enough, or if I should just move to the full Beringer setup since at that point I'd be able to get "real" race pads. Doesn't seem there are many options for great pads for the stock Magura setup.

I've searched around the forums as well as over at SMJ and just wanted to see if there are some Berg owners that can throw their $.02 in.

Here's a picture of the bike... Got a Suter slipper in it, suspension done up, Alpinas... now time to figure out the brakes.

Wish I had some input on the brake stuff, sorry - but! cool bike! The two-color wheel and US flag is hard to pull of but that bike works!!

Agree on the colors... Thanks for the compliment. The wheels I ordered were supposed to be the red/black but I was going to have to wait a while for them to be made and Alpina had just finished their trade show over here in the States and they hooked me up with their new 2014 Flouro Red (darn near fluorescent orange). Wasn't sure if it'd work, but I think since it's so bright, it does ok.

Hopefully someone reading can throw in their $.02 on the brakes. At this point, I'm thinking I'm just gonna plunk down the cash and go for the gusto. Can always pull it off and sell em separately when I go to sell the bike some day.

My guess is the stock pads config is too small and doesn't provide enough heat sinking for your application. It is a cool setup and provides good initial bite, but then you overwhelm them with heat soak.

Sweet looking bike!

Thanks... My feelings are similar. I believe it is a pad issue followed by a rotor issue. Both having to do with heat. I don't see any options for real race pads for the Magura stuff...

I ended up just biting the bullet (literally - just 5 minutes ago)... bought the full Beringer Race Setup... rotor, M/C, caliper.

I figure I can always sell off the race goodies separate if/when I go to sell the bike - Alpins CF Matrix Wheels, Translogic Quickshifter, Suter Slipper Clutch, and the full Beringer Brake setup. Can't wait to see what a full race brake setup feels like!!
