Re: 1999 TE 501 Electrical set up.

the white thing bolted to the underside of the frame with the male spade connectors is the regulator. not sure how to wire it.

Hi again i have just tested my stator
I tested by unplugging all wires and tested ohms with black and red and got 1500 - 1600 ohms
and green and black got 150 - 200 ohms.
i think the black red is low yes?
would this need replacing?
Thanks for your time.
Regards Ben.

The good values are:

black/red - 3000
black/green - 165

So your vales are not good, needs a rewind

Do you know the tolerances for the ignition coil and the rectifier?
Thanks for your time.
Regards Ben

No, I don't think that there is a easy way to check the coil, except with a test rig.
But with the stator values I won't have much doubts, that the problem is on the stator.

The lights are with the yellows and blue and they should be < 1 Ohm, but usualy they are ok. You start the bike then try the lights, usualy the regulator is also ok.

Zaga he needs 2,700 minimum. a std SEM stator won't produce anymore than 2,800 but a repaired stator will give 3,000 almost exactly.

Thanks Zaga... looks like i need to do some testing ... can you recommend a good Electrical tester and some methods for testing...
Thanks mate.
Hey Zaga that simple wiring diagram that you gave to us ... What do i do with the black and orange that come out of the cdi?
Regards Ben

Hi

The black from the CDI goes to earth that you can make on the "star" of the drawing.

The orange of the CDI, its the kill switch, you find one if you don't have (its cheap). You conect one wire of the switch to the orange, and the other wire of the switch to the earth. That way when you touch the kill, the current from the orange will go to earth and the bike stops.
Don't play with the orange, it has lots of volts and if you touch it, it will bite you hard
Basicly the orange will empty the coil from the cdi to the earth, and the bike stops.

Its very simple

Thanks for the reply mate .... however i might try to wire it as it was from the factory minus the indicators ...
I need this for rec reg. if i take a few snap shots could you give me some tips as i will be getting my stator back from kriss this week and i really don't want to stuff it.

Hi Ben

I like to make everything new, because there is a lot that you don't need, but that is just me.

Tell me exactly the functions that you need and I will help you to do it as I can, you will need things like different color wires and conectors.

Let me know I will try to help

I need a horn, headlight, tali light, break light (a persistent lighting system would be ok)

You need a lot

Remember me, do you have batt. and starter ?

What switches are you using new ones or the ones that came with the bike ?

Send me pictures of your switches and of your cdi, do you have hi/low switch ?

You have the red CDI, correct ?

The controls of the pict, they have horn and kill switch ?
If you don't know if its the original you might have to find the wires yourself, can you do it ?

Do you want to do everything from zero ?

ZAGA
