Hi,
I have some problems with setting the right ignition timing on my old (should be 1998) Husaberg FC501. Can't find any info in manuals and it's not clear how to find the mark on engine block for this type of ignition?
Also, any advices how to set the right timing for engine with electric starter?

Thanks

Hi bergas

Welcome.

The owners docs refer to ignitions after 98, yours is diferent.

I have made this some years ago, please check this pdf.

After you do that you could check it with a strobe light.

Having problems let me know.

WOW! i wish i could have found that file zaga left on there two weeks ago when i was doing mine i am still not sure ignition timing is perfect but will double check with that now, the timing chain was off a tooth when i got it and would fall on its face at 4,000 rpm (last onwer put together wrong)

with the homeade flywheel puller pic that really cool the threads are 26X1.5mm i was also going to make one but couldnt find anything in that thread pitch for going into the flywheel, i purchased a flywheel puller off ebay i think it was for ktm or husqvarna but as long as its that thread pitch it will work i think it was 15.USD including shipping and everything, its an easy enough tool to make if you got something 26X1.5 but thats not a thread pitch most people just have laying around i wouldnt think

I've made that some years ago most of it guessing, a few weeks ago another member of UHE sent me the manual form 98 in pictures, and my method is the same. I will separete those two pages and post it here so everyone can check the original explanation.

After this I think you guys should check again with a strobe light, because as allways in bergs, they are not all the same... they have a mind of their own

I've never had a chance to do that because only recently I have a storbe, and my 98 engine is in parts for some time.
In those pages they also have a method to do it, but the one used in 99-03 with the 6 deg. of advace in the strobe should be ok.

As said, here are the pages from the 98 Work Shop Manual.

You can check the original way.

If you whant, can check the way to use a strobe light, in my galery, its for 99-03 but I think it can be adapted.

When I put together my 98 engine, I will make a new doc with the last part (timing light).
I also think this should be the same to all BERGS until 98.
