I found this old photo of myself and a bloody quick Husaberg rider at that time, this was taken at the World Six day enduro in Traralgon in Victoria Australia back in 1999.
It says 3 time world 500 Mx champion on the back, from memory he won his class on a 400 Husaberg and helped Belgium to a podium in the teams in his first ever Six day. I even think he rode with a fractured arm. we watched him on day 2 leave a control on a drowned Berg backfiring and i thought his race was over.
What a ballsy effort almost as big as his come from behind win with no goggles in the second wet moto at the Broadford Vic round of the world 500 MX titles in 2000 passing Darryl King on the last lap. On a KTM 520 that year and world title no 4 i think.
what a legend is Joel Smets
