Guys, i have booked my 09 570 for the torque limiter to get done, as i am having the problems with the hot start issue. When i described the sympthoms, the dealer knew straight away what i was talking about. Now my question is how long out of warranty has Husaberg Au been sorting this out for owners? My bike has only @1500km on it and is still really low hours, so if this is a known problem, should they be covering it out of good customer relations?

Has anyone had this done at Wanneroo M/C in Perth?

i have just gone through the whole torque limiter thing .asI bought my berg 2nd hand 9 hours drive away and I was in a hurry to get the thing fixed I bought a new limiter $200 .Fixed my starting problems completely.
i have heard of warranty replacement but mine has done 110 hours and 4000 + km not 1200.
If you have no joy at husaberg I can tell you how to fix old one PM me for phone number if you wish.

Good luck
Graeme

gwp58..

Just a thought, but maybe a step by step tutorial on how to fix the problem could be in the works. I'm sure one of the Moderators could make it a sticky or put in on the DOCS page.

Cheers

Pete

My dealer in Port Pirie fixed mine under warranty. The bike had 700 km's on her but I had it abut 9 months. It was out of warranty as far as time, and my taking the bike back for servicing, but the dealer contacted the importer and it was approved. I assume because it's a know problem, and your dealer and you get along, you should not have any issues. Having said that, they will have to draw a line somewhere.

I think part of my problem might be, i did not buy the bike from the dealer(Wanneroo M/C) who is being asked to look at this problem and there will be very little good will for me as a returning customer (i bought mine from Suttos with the Rekluse deal). Saying that, i would hope he would still call Husaberg AU for an opinion.

I just had a great weekend with no starting problems,so as requested I have attempted to add pictures and video to try and explain the torque limiter problem.
In the video watch the outer gear driven by the starter spin freely without turning over the engine ,grabbing intermittently.
it should only slip under heavy load ,like clutch out in gear situation.
The limiter is a sandwich of friction plates and a large conical spring loaded to by the nut.
I tested a brand new one and got 20 ft pounds.
My limiter was around 8 ft pounds and obviously not working .
The torque testing is done by holding the large gear in the vise with soft jaws of course and turning the small gear with the torque wrench ,starting with a little load and increasing until the gear turns without setting off the torque wrench.

I cleaned the old loctite off the thread and cleaned both threads with solvent applied new loctite and torqued it up to 20 ft lbs .tightening then testing tightening then testing.
Good Luck
Graeme
