Travel back 245 million years to when Dinosaurs ruled the earth.
Imagine a land so desolate, where vegetation has been cooked by the
baking sun, where flat land has been eroded into jagged ravines,
where dirt has been petrified into rock… Not even the magnificent
Dinosaur could survive this place!
Now for the first time in Canadian history, a premier ‘Extreme Hard
Enduro’ event will be staged in the ‘Badlands’ where the Dinosaur
species came to rest… This event will test the desire of the modern
day Off-Road motorcycle enthusiast and present those brave enough a
chance to beat XTINCTION!!!
CGRT founder and Xtinction mastermind Lee Fryberger has been working
diligently to make this event a reality. “This is my backyard ~ yes it
is rugged ~ but it will offer an incredible riding experience for those
brave enough to try. With the advent of ‘Extreme Hard Enduro’ events
in recent years; as well as CGRT’s involvement in many of these
events; I really wanted to combine our experiences and bring this type
of event back to North America.â€Â

Will they have a slow fat toughie class?

Saturday will have a full schedule for all classes

I won't post a lot of info here, to avoid any misinformation. Shane will be posting all the rules, regs and other info on the cornergrass site, and he is sending me to work :(

thanks for the props fellas...also, it is a 2 hr drive from Calgary, and direct flights from Dallas, Houston, and Pheonix :D

Here’s your chance to survive XTINCTION!! See if you have what it
takes to ride the gnarliest terrain imaginable, in a land so desolate
that not even the Tyrannosaurus Rex could survive! Do you think you
have what is takes to conquer the elements? Maybe the $5000.00 CAD
purse will help your fortitude?

This event is PRE-ENTRY only and must be completed online prior to
the July 30, 2010 deadline! Only the first 200 riders will have a
chance to be a part of this historic event!

Visit http://www.cornergrass.com for entry forms, payment options, event
regulations, and view a few video clips to catch a glimpse of what you
might encounter when facing XTINCTION!

Odd, I didn't recall seeing any cameras around as I was traversing this.

there are cameras hid in the hils Json...sorry to have missed you, you should have stopped by

I spent a couple of years in the mid-80s living in Medicine Hat and we sometimes got involved in air-lifting large dinosaur bones from the badlands to the Tyrell museum as it was the easiest way to get them out. Never had a chance to ride there but I spent enough time wandering about marshalling a helicopter in to pick up the load on its cargo hook that I have vivid memories of how rugged the landscape is! (And just how much dust a hovering helicopter can blow into your sweating face.) Probably similar to the surface of the moon, only less well suited to humans. Difficult enough even to walk on, so I can only say well done to anyone stup... brave enough to go racing there! Looks epic.

also, Dan Paris' website www.offroadmotorcycles.ca has many posts about Xtinction, including pics and links to video and galleries

The event was a huge undertaking, but from the response of landowners ( the event was held on rented, private property )neighbours, spectators, media and industry, the event was a success. The location is very unique and spectating is spectacular and its was easy to watch 60-70% of the event from one vantage point.

cheers
