What does this pack weigh ?????
Do you carry this pack for hare scrambles or for long enduros or both???

Thanks,Very Helpful

The vest with its kit and the rear tool bag are my trail riding kit. Racing needs are reduced to suit depending on the type of event, ie how far am I likely to be from the pits?

All the stuff has been used in anger at some stage, from treating a broken neck, lighting a signal fire, and talking in paramedics in a chopper (he walks) to repairing a broken chain on the east coast of Cape York 100s of kms from anywhere.

I never seem to need it for me, but I am the reason others get home. I'm trying to educate them to be more self sufficient!!

Weight? Too much, but the water weighs the most, especially 6 litres and then add some extra fuel. The vest keeps it all snug over my armour and once on I hardly notice it.

Cheers
Steve

That's what I'm takling about.

On one of my previous posts.

I too get a saw neck and shoulders in the shoulderblade area. Even when i am riding alot through the season i still get it. I think it may be related to my backpack and its weight of 12 to 15 Kilograms. it only has essentials in it and tends to be used by other people more than me. I do ride alot of whooped out sections. I wish i didn't get the sawness after riding.

Anyone else get this problem?

No, but I get it from fast road riding over long distance on my GS and I figure its from hangin on! The bars are high and wide and I only have a stock screen so my arms are in tension a lot and my shoulder muscles work hard.
I Reckon heavy back packs have a similar effect off road as youre adding mass to your torso and your arms have to control it. So I try to keep mine light with water, energy bars, camera and cell phone and a rear fender pack for tools, and a front one for tubes on long trips.

I don't think I saw a chain breaker and spare links, usually a group of three is required, or did I miss it? Also I did not see any putty weld in case the radiator spits. When I was using Regina chains they broke all the time, never had a problem with DID though.

My kit has a chain breaker, length of chain and 2 master links. Also epoxy putty for radiator and case repairs etc. Pretty sure its in the pics. All used for real at some time in the past. And yes, Reginas don't seem to wear/stretch much and then just break. RK for me.

Spare chain links

I have a 2011 Fe 570S. The bike came new with a DID 520 VT2. I believe it is called a narrow enduro chain. Replaced the chain once, but with another VT2. I want to carry a few spare links in my tool pack. Do I have to stick with a narrow link, or can I just use 520 links from my buddy's old Honda chain. Don't want to buy a whole new chain for just a few spare links. Thanks

Tent,
Chair,
carpet
Stands (milk crates)
Water wetter,
Water and gatorade, sandwiches and a six pack of beer for end of day bench racing
Spare fasteners, small tool kit, compressed air and tire gauge
First aid kit with bandages and emergency tournequette. Epi Stick (had to use on several occasions when some allergic racer gets stung by a bee with no epi stick)
clean socks and shirt for end of day.
