FE 501 2002 - Rear Tire/Axle Repair/Refurbishment

Hi folks,
as already mentioned in an older post about the front axle (FE 501 2002 - Front Tire/Axle Repair/Refurbishment), here is the second part about the rear axle repair.

After checking the parts for wear and play, I ordered the following parts from my KTM supplier. I also put the article numbers in the image below:
  • Rear Axle/Wheel Spindle Rear '04 (80010085044): 47,48
  • Rear Axle Nut '98-16 M20x1,5 (50310099000): 4,30
  • Spacer Bushing Rearhub (78010016000): 15,25 each

Sealings and bearings I ordered at a local bearing supplier:
  • 2 x NSK 6005 2RS: 6,93 each
  • 2 x Shaft Seal Ring WAS 32x47x7 NBR 15: 2,77 each

The rear axle comes with one chain tensioner attached, the other one you need to order separate - I used my old one again.

The original shaft sealing rings have an outer metal housing (type BSL: outer metal housing with sealing lip - see picture below). I used the common WAS-type made from NBR (nitrile rubber). It has a stabilizing inner metal ring which is rubberized and a dust/sealing lip. It's actually not perfect but does the job (for a while). I also reused the bearing circlip and the bearing distance spacer.
