FE650e Side Stand Help

Hello,

Yesterday I heard a nasty thumping noise while decelerating. Luckily it was only my side stand bouncing off the pavement. It seems that the spring broke off, so now I need a new spring.

I looked in the fiche, but cannot remember which combination of parts was present before.

Q1: Please let me know what the stock (your) bike has from the following:

Q2: How long is your Enduro-model Side Stand? (The PO told me that the bike was orignally sold with the supermoto side stand, so it's way too short (fuel comes out of carb hoses it leans so far)).

Thanks.

mine has everything except #31 its 450mm from pivot center to the center of the foot

I found it a bit short for soft ground till i lowered the back end of the bike

it broke at the weld between the pipe and the pivot plug, welded it back and built up gussets to make it stronger
Thanks from jmscrttndn

So are there two springs? Mine definitely only had one spring before... are they side by each or one inside the other or what? Thanks.

Yes, 24 goes inside 25--that's how my old '05 FE650 was.
Unfortunately, my current '01 is missing its kick stand. I'm looking for one if someone has one to sell.
Thanks from bushmechanic

To increase the length of the side stand, I drew up the following part. My main PC died, so handraulic drawings it is! It isn't perfect, but it will do for now. I cut the stand in two pieces. Made the slice on the far side of the welded-on spring loop. Don't have a photo yet.

Yes, the smaller dia spring goes inside the bigger dia spring. With OEM springs I found the side stand to be bouncy so I took the springs to the guy that makes springs to make me the same set but a coil shorter.

Now the side stand stands nice and firm in the folded position.

I also used some safety wire to wire the springs to the "fixing place" on the frame so if it releases itself it'll stay hanging off the frame.
