Its below the clutch basket. When the reed valve goes out it will smoke horribly but cause no engine damage.

i hurry a litlle bit to write about this valve , i founded in the repairing manual, stupid me, but i have to look for it in that kit ,
10x again..
hope anybody could tell me about the question i asked up!!

i have a few questions about my 97 fe400, could anybody answer.

1.how do i properly check the oil level
2.what is the oil capacity of the motor
3.what is the trq spec for the 4 main head bolts?

1.) There is a bolt on the left crankcase cover. If you remove it and oil comes out it is supposedly full. I just fill mine up to the threads on the oil cap or just fill it until it overflows. Add oil every few hours or so as some gen 1 motors burn a lot of oil. The biggest risk on these motors is running out of oil on a ride. Any excess oil will just be sent up the breather hose and digested through the carb.

2.) One Litre or 1.05 quarts

3.) 44Nm. Gen 2 motors went to 50Nm so some use the higher spec on the gen 1 motor.
