99' WP 50 fork seal fix HELP

Have a badly leaking right fork seal. looks like about 3 OZ/90 ml has leaked out so far. Is there a step by step on how to change seals and oil? Anything with pics or videos as well? I cant find anything on you tube. Or is a better to pay $165 to have it done? I keep hearing that these forks are easy to work on. Thx..

I Ride:
top end cap off
push chrome down
pull spring and spacers down
flip out the cup that holds them down
remove spring and packers. note the spring is tapered at the bottom, not the steel washer on the packers.
poor away the oil, work the rod to get more out
look down the hole, a washer is on a steel ring
turn upside down
a washer and ring will fall out, note fitment.
undo M6 underneath
innards will fall out now
a big alloy cup goes in the bottom and may have stayed there. get it out as well, note fitment
remove dust seal
remove circlip
reverse thrust the legs away from each other to pull apart, same as any other legs.

note, the dust seals have to be short to stay in. so do the seals really. I end up grinding 0.5mm off them on the sideface of my wall grinder and then the circlip fits nicely. and still the dust seals don't want to stay down!

anyone know the correct oil measurement on these? just put 625cc per leg in a set.

Go back to the sites homepage. There is a section " Husaberg motorcycles " look for"service manuals" if you have the 50mm WP conventional forks they are the Extreme! Other good manuals there too!

mmmm? unfortunately I have left them at just what I put in them on this occasion. i didn't check the air gap. any idea on volume rather than the air gap alone Ned?

i remember it was more than 500cc. your 625 may be right. it was a pain because it couldn't be done with one bottle. i quit measuring it on the way in a LONG time ago

With 0.46 springs I run 115 mm in my 98 FE501.

Pulling the forks apart is straightforward, haven't done them for a while, but much the same as any cartridge fork.
