I Just recently had my suspension done by Dale EO Engineering and let me tell you WOW what a difference. He changed the springs to match my heftiness and also did a revalve. I ride a 2010 FE570, I am 235lbs and before I had this done the bike handled decently but there were two major problems 1) if I hit the whoops with any kind of speed the back end would really start to kick & swap, not good, 2) the front end would deflect when in the rocks especially on a rocky uphill but now both of those issues have gone away. The bike handles WAY better than before. Now I feel real comfortable hitting the whoops with speed and I am not worried about the rear kicking around and ejecting me off the bike , the front end works great in the whoops and is also soft enough in the rocks to where it just soaks them up. Cornering is also better because the bike is staying up more in the stroke and not squating as bad as it did before and on uphills & downhills the bike handles way better also because it is staying up more in the stroke. I loved this bike before but now it is just that much more fun to ride. So, if you are interested in getting your suspension done I would definately check into having him do it, he put together a very detailed spec sheet of rider info and of the work he did, he does it right and guarantees his work and for a reasonable price too! Thanks Dale!

I just sent my suspension out to Dale for my 09 570. I will post the results in a few weeks. Knowing Dale, I'm sure I will be impressed.

Thanks for the nice write up BB! I'm glad you like your suspension, and I'm sure as you get more acquainted with it, you will find out just how much better it really is than stock!
Berger: Yours is on the operating table right now, shouldn't be much longer. Since you are now svelte, we'll go with the same settings that I am using. I'm sure you will be very happy with your set up!
What the both of you will find is that with the way I set the bikes up, they will work great everywhere, but, with just a couple of clicks on the low speed adjusters, you can easily tune to more specific conditions. The main thing you will find is that even though the bike is plush, it will not just blow through the travel on the big hits. Enjoy!

With a 2010 FX 450 and my Wt 235#, Ht 6', Riding Florida woods, dirt pits and tracks around Central Florida, running stock setup, I am bottoming more as I get the bike broken in; just a few hours on the bike. Since I am not really pushing it now, I am concerned about beefing it up. I adjusted according to the manual but still soft. What do you think I should have in front and rear? Can you help remotely with setup and parts? Can I send shocks to you for setup?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Will,
I'm not surprised you are having the trouble you are with your height and weight. I had the same problem with my 09 570 as I became more and more aggressive with it as it broke in. And, sending the components to me is not a problem.
Please PM me your email address and we can get things started.
Dale

The most recent set I did for a UHE member with a Candy Blue Pearl Spring, matches the blue anodized rims perfectly! |

Here are some photos of my newly tuned suspension installed on the bike. I can't wait to test it out! |

I just got back from our family Memorial weekend trip to Moab. This was a family trip, so I was not riding as aggressively as I sometimes do, but I was very impressed with Dale's suspension tune up. It made a huge improvement for me.
When I bought the bike I installed .48 front springs and 8.4 rear. The suspension seemed okay on general dirt roads and semi-rocky trails, but I had some serious issues in deep sand/gravel and in the whoops. The front end was very unstable in the sand. I could never get up to speed because the steering was thrashing back and forth. And the bike did not track straight through the whoops. If I hit a bump with a small rock on top, the rear end would really launch me in the air. It was scary.
Now with Dale's tuning, the ride is much more plush and well behaved. I only got to ride a few short sections of whoops on this trip, but it seemed to track straight and true. I also only got to ride a small amount of sand and the unstable front end feeling was gone. My rear tire swam around, but I think that is because my tires are so stiff.
The trails had tons of exposed roots, small ledges, rocks, and very bumpy sandstone. The ride was much more plush than I have ever experienced before, and the roots, rocks, and ledges didn't through me around. The bike went straight over everything and I felt in control.
So far I am very pleased with Dale's work!

A big thumbs up for Dale EO Engineering.
I have had the suspension back for about 2 months now. I wanted to get an all around feel for the suspension before posting a review. I was holding out for an ISDE fund raiser out at one of the local MX tracks to see how the bike responded.
My back ground. 50+ year old "C" rider. I primarily ride desert single track and desert duelsport (cruelsport as we call it here) I usually throw in a trip to CO and Moab once a year.
I had just dropped 60lbs and knew I at least needed to respring. I figured "what the heck" and sent the suspension off to Dale for the full meal deal.
For openers, I was pretty much satisfied with the stock suspension once I had it resprung and the sag set properly. The issues I had were the fact that I would loose the front end in corners when trying to ride aggressively, and the thing liked to wallow in deep sand.
I have never had a bike revalved before, so let's just say I never knew what I was missing.
The issues of the bike not biting in the corners is gone, it pretty much rails. It turns better and rides up higher in the deep sand as well. The suspension has a much smoother and progressive feel. The faster you go, the better it feels. It took the MX track to really be able to measure the improvement for me. I generally do not ride tracks, but I have to say it was kind of fun with this set up.
Not bad to be able to ride gnarly rocked out single track, to high speed duel sport stuff to the MX track with just a few clicks to the suspension.
As far as customer service after the sale I give 2 thumbs up. Dale made himself readily available to answer any questions I had, and to coach me with the suspension set up. I had never been comfortable changing suspension settings for different terrain (before it was set it up once, get it close and never touch it again). Again, I didnt know what I was missing.
Thanks for the good work Dale.
