Re: Dale 'E' O Engineering DOES suspension!

Hello Everyone,

I received my suspension back from Dale, and I had to waite to test it as I had to work last weekend. Yesterday I had a chance to ride my bike for the first time after the upgrades....

I just installed the forks and shock, I did not turn any clicker or even measure the sag! (I will though.)

WOW!! What a difference! In the first 2 miles all I could do is smile and twist! My riding buddys could not believe how much faster I was riding! When I blew by them on a nasty rocky rutted hill, they where in shock. I was in the hard line and jucing it all the way to the top, with a huge grin on my mug!!

Dale, you where right on the money, when you said you will be happy!! I AM!

A little history on me, I am 6-2 and weigh in about 320 or so with gear, I am about a "B" rider and ride alot of single and 2 track rocky rough AZ. trails around Phoenix. So this was no easy-peasy task for a suspension tuner. Super Plush would not even return my calls, (and James did my 990) After speaking with Dale at length, I was convinced that he could make me happy, and boy did he! Gone is the rolling marshmellow, now this bad boy stays high in the stroke with his head held high, very forgiving, tracks straight and smooth, talk about a confidence booster!

I only have about 3 hours on my bike, but I am sure that it will get better and better! I will check the sag and I am ready to rock!!

Money Well Spent!!

The only thing I need to work on is the rebound on the shock, I think it needs to be just a tad bit faster. That IS the only thing I am going to adjust, besides the sag.

Thank you very much Dale!

Re: Dale 'E' O Engineering DOES suspension!

I just had to come back to this thread once more and give another plug for Dale and his work. I have been riding since I was a kid and I've never done a suspension correctly until now and it is truly night and day different. I feel like I just got better as a rider. My confidence is up, my average speed is up and I'm enjoying riding even more. I just went out for a ride on Sunday and between this new 570 and the suspension job that Dale did, I feel like I can go anywhere and do anything. You just won't understand until you do it. I've never spent money on any upgrade that made this big a difference.

On a side note...I think I'm the ONLY person with a Berg in my neck of the woods. I NEVER see one around here. Even the ranger had to ask what I was riding.

Anyway, back to the subject. If you're considering doing your suspension, give Dale a shot at it. If your results are like mine, you'll never regret it and it will make riding even more enjoyable. If you're a racer, I can only imagine it will make you faster but for this weekend warrior it's just an all around pleasure and has definitely taken my game up a notch! Thanks Dale!

+1

I read lots of threads saying suspension tuning was the best money spent on a bike. I was super skeptical.

When I bought my Berg I put the correct rate springs on my bike - something I had never done before. I figured that would be "good enough". I then went riding in southern Utah - a mixture of sand, whoops, and rocky trails. The bike was totally uncontrollable in the soft sandy washes and it darted all over the place on the whoops. I felt like my riding skill went back 20 years. The Berg was supposed to be this great handling bike, and I couldn't handle it.

A few weeks ago I went back to the same area and rode some of the same trails - but now with Dale's suspension upgrade. Wow! I can now go faster in the sand than I ever have! I can go through whoops straight as an arrow. I am still slow and not very good in whoops, but at least I wasn't zig-zagging around like I was before. One dirt roads it is smooth and plush, and on rocky trails it just absorbs the bumps. I am constantly amazed at how well it soaks up everything. I am one happy customer. Thanks Dale!

Re: Dale 'E' O Engineering DOES suspension!

I would really like for Dale to do my suspension, but I can't get a hold of him. I emailed over a week ago and nothing. He doesn't appear to have a web site and I can't find his number on the forum. I am have second thoughts on sending him my suspension if he is this hard to get a hold of. Does any one know how to get in touch with him?

He is usually very quick to respond and on this Forum all of the time. Maybe it is the Holiday Season that is messing with him responding. Met him at the Force ride. Very Very good guy!
Patience it will be well worth it!
