RE: FS650E OIL

Hi Rob, oil wise its really down to personal preference and what you can get hold of easily, i have used motorex (expensive) and castrol.
I use 15/42 gearing for my supermoto wheels, this makes the bike great fun in the lower gears and a top speed approaching 90mph.

Hope this helps, Carl

I use Motul 300V 15w50. I like bike geared a little higher to keep it in the fat part of the torque curve. I have run several combos but 15/38 or 16/40 are my favorite. Lots of top end too -- 125 MPH!

Hey Rob, where abouts are you from ?
Im in england and got my oil from Dave Clarkes. Its Motul 300v 5w40
just thought id let you know but as above, its down to what brand you trust/prefer. I believe the ambient temperature has an effect on what grade to use so bear this in mind.

RE: FS650E OIL

oh and re: gearing my preference is 15 or 16 front and a 42 rear. i ride on british roads and feel this is a good setting but i havent experimented much. i personally wouldnt want more accel than 15/42 though

what sprockets do you have fitted at the moment ?

I use old frying oil the missus empties from the chip pan, you have to sieve out the black bits but it doesn't take long, have to change the oil every 4 minutes though. Gearing is 29 on the front and 8 on the back, does 137 in 1st gear, bit tough on the clutch though. By the time I've got flat out in 1st I need to change the oil, we have chips every night so no shortage of old fat.

Seriously, same as the others on the oil Motul 300v, used it for years on all my bikes with no serious probs. Gearing 16 and 38, good fast road gearing, makes 6th tall but good for fast cruising with the bigger bikes, still pulls lower gears like a train.
