My excels are also without cush hub, but I think they still weight more than stock even with the nice billet hubs...

We'll see what they truly weight once they are laced back together, might be time for Carbon Matrix Alpina's if they are at least 2kg lighter.

a 4.25inch wheel should be lighter than a 5inch alltough it would surprise me with the stock heavy hub setup you'l see you know the weight of the carbon matrix now (size 17 in front )

Re: husaberg fs 570 "project"

My 3M tape tubeless mod added maybe ~200-250g to rear wheel and maybe 50-100g less for front. Gonna try the Outex stuff this time even though it's quite expensive approx 100€. Ran out of 3M tape and new roll is close to 150€ or so...

tomorrow I wil go to the dealer and see if I can use them (normally I mount my tyres myself but these enduro things are a PITA to instal very though carcass etc)

Nice.

I tried once to dismount my front tire, almost managed to get hurt badly when breaking the bead. Decided to take it to a shop then.

If you haven't seen yet, heres a small dyno clip that I shot in summer:

One method I use to break beads on tires is to use the kickstand of another bike. Put padding down on ground, put wheel on it, stab the tire bead area with another bike's kickstand using your weight to push and balance. It works quite well. Learned from dirtbike forums.

Re: husaberg fs 570 "project"

It all depends what kind of tyre you have to get on/off the rim
Some are impossible to get on/off without machine and some are so easy you can even mount them without using tools (the stock michelin's are super easy to get on just use ziptie's/soap )

I already seen that vid that subframe is nice in black

Painted the subframe black! Never thought I could get decent adhesion on that slippery plastic but looks like I succeeded. Has been fine for a year, only underside starts to get a bit rough from the sandblasting that rear tire always does.

Almost tried to paint the fuel tank, but luckily I didn't. Put some 3M 1080 -series vinyl on the tank sides and after one day it was bubbling everywhere. Could smell raw fuel fumes on the vinyl and that was a clear indication that nothing could be done to it.
