Re: Hussa bites back - CAUTION: Gory picture!

I'm new to the 'Berg scene myself, just bought a 501 for supermoto riding... love it!

The dealer that supplied my bike (Midwest Racing nr Melksham), walked me thro' the start-up technique and, following their instructions, I always get it fired-up first full kick, hot or cold.

Kick the engine over softly (whilst on the s/stand, as opposed to sitting on the bike), to find TDC (you'll feel the piston 'slot' into TDC doing this), then full kick with moderate effort, making sure you pull your boot away shortly after the bottom of the kick stroke.

For me it works... simples... now - no more talk of this girly 'lecky starter malarky, OK! lol

Hope it works for you...

Re: Hussa bites back - CAUTION: Gory picture!

Hi guys,

Have had the starter motor gear assembly slippage issue fixed, (thanks Taffy for the parts and advice).

The next obstacle seemed to be the power of the battery, even fully charged it just did not have the grunt to turn over the engine properly.

So....have purchased a "Super B" battery (see link; http://www.mpsracing-enduro.co.uk/superbinfo.php).

Now thats exactly what you get, I have fitted (via crimping), two opposing connectors (red & black from the pic above) to the wiring loom side & plugged them in together.

Now.. the problem. There was an earthing cable from the starter motor to .... I think the battery terminal?

I still have this cable in my job tray of bits, but now I can't quite remember if this is how it connects.

Does it connect the starter motor & black battery terminal???

If so, I suppose I need to think up an ingenious connection to the battery connector (e.g. strip the normal connector the earth cable has fitted & twist with the new black connector wire & re-crimp???

Any help appreciated?

Thanks

Crispin

My 650 battery earth is bolted to the starter motor mount and the only wire on the starter is the red wire which comes from the solonoid. Starter motor is bolted directly to engine via the earthed bracket.
Hope this helps.
