I Ride:
My first ride on the 2009 450 Husaberg....

..........and wow what a nice bike. Got to see the 2009 Husaberg up close and personal in Greece at the ISDE but could not talk David Larsson into letting me ride one as it was the world intrduction and the times and riders were set. Managed to get Rory a demo ride but not the sponsor

Bought it from the Boss here in Portland and it was all ready to go. Rode it a my place in Estacada Oregon today. We live on 46 acres and have several miles of single track, a full on hilly MX course and lots of trials and very tight sections. We can layout about a 4 mile hare scrambles track that takes in most of the more open single track and the MX course plus some connecting sections.

The suspension was at stock settings and the bike did not have the different mapping. So it was bone stock. It started right up and idled with out a hick up or...........checked the tire pressure and at the end 20 miles of non stop riding in the tight woods and the open areas and I could not get the smile off my face.

Does this bike ever turn so nice, it is unbelievable.........think turn and it turns. I thought that my 2008 250 XC turned well, the 2009 450 Berg out turns and out handles it easily. I found myself railing tight trail sections like I did 10 12 years ago and with confidence.

The power was awesome with plenty of low grunt even a gear higher. Will put the new mapping in for the next ride and I bet you loose non of the bottom end feel, but you will get more topend and initial hit. It does like to rev and after a bit I was also running each gear out a bit farther.

My best guess is that the suspension will be spot on for all conditions just by working the clilckers and keeping a log.

With the six speed I felt that it needed a 52 rear, but stopping and looking it did have one and also a 13T on the front. The six speed is awesome, so the gearing for me will stay the same. As it worked well in the tight muddy single track, and had the legs required for the more open sections.

Next to the wash rack and I laid it on its side with the bar on a stand and gave it hell with the power washer. When it was clean and lubed, I looked at the airfilter and hardly any water had made its way to the airfilter.....cool.

I have ridden the 2009 BMW 450X (in stock form) and the BMW is no match for the 2009 450 Husaberg (in stock form) The BMW factory team must have one off special bikes for the WEC events in 2009. The stock BMW 450X is a great 450 cc Dual Sport bike and does well leaving the house for a 40 mile ride in the hills near the house.

I have not done much racing in the last few years.....letting work dictate my efforts, however I think that will change......as wow what a nice bike this is.................

I second that.

Except I have a 14/52. In the woods and sand here it pulls it easy. I think 14/50 would also work.

Amazing combination of easy 2 stroke handling with easy 4 stroke power.
I was much faster on this bike straight from the go then on my 2 stroke.
No time needed to get used to the bike, and none of that heavy feeling a regular 4 stroke gives me when switching bikes with me 2 stroke.
