I Ride: 2011 Husaberg FE390
Western Rim on a 390!

Yesterday, December 6th, I did my first ride on my new-to-me 2011 Husaberg FE 390.

I'm coming off a '98 Kawasaki KLX 300 which I've had for the past year and a half or so. I've ridden mountain bikes for the past 25 years and dual sport rode for about 4 years, but am kinda new to riding dirt bikes.

I heavily researched bikes before really zeroing in on the 390. Rode a Beta 450, several KTM smokers and a couple other Jap bikes.

I couldn't be happier with my new bike!

I live in Southwestern Colorado, and am lucky to have access to so much great riding. My friend and I drove out towards Rabbit Valley and parked near Trail #2. From there we rode out to the Western Rim trail. The bike handled great on the intermediate single track and was a good warm up to get used to the massive upgrade.

From the Western Rim we hooked into some "new" single track- a great variety of fairly technical single track-with some snow mixed in too.

We encountered several sections of "hair", but the 390 ate it up easily.

About 3 hours into the ride we hooked back into the Kokopelli trail and then linked into trail #2 again for the final few miles back to the truck.

The bike is so much fun! Great suspension, very responsive on the technical single track we encountered, and plenty of power for me.

Sorry-no pics. We were too busy riding, but my next ride report will have some Southwestern Photo flavor to it.

Stoked on the Husa!
Thanks from Rainerio and TXThumper

The hair...

Like "hairball".

I do a fair amount of catarafting on class 5 rivers in the spring. Hairball is kind of a boating term- for class 5 (expert) level white water.

So, yeah, the hair we encountered was a bit of terrain that we had to "give 'er the onion" on!
