My FE 570 vid thread

This is my first attempt at using a helmet cam:

[youtube:3tiuynci]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRidXzvctaM[/youtube:3tiuynci]

I have more - they are encoding now (I finally figured out how to export from iMovie to 1080p), but the next one I will be even slower than on this vid. I know - I am slow, I suck, and I am terribly out of shape, but I am having fun and I get a little bit better each time I ride. Enjoy.

This is how my cam (GoPro HD) is setup for me:

I thought a lot about how to do it and decided this was best - on the side or on top I would hit too many branches/etc. - and I was right, it worked well and in my first ride with this new helmet that sits high on my head, I forgot to duck on one branch and knocked off the middle ventilation fin. If my cam had been there it would have taken a hard hit.

Looks good CodeMonkey! I like the view point from the helmet mouth piece area better...I have the same helmet too but will never mess with a vid camera.

Are you running a Reckluse and a LHRB? I'm slow too on the tight STrack with my 450 but it's still a blast. Ride on! Colleen

Yes, both. If I had known Husaberg offered the Magura LHRB too I would have gotten that instead of the AJP brake kit that came from Rekluse. I like the Rekluse and after the first ride I no longer really needed the clutch lever so I went solely with the LHRB which gives me better feel than the foot pedal and I can always access it whereas there are times I have to put my right foot down. I use the rear brake on those steep downhills - kind of like a sea anchor - and I stay very light on the front brake to keep it rolling and make sure I don't go over the handlebars.

Nice video CodeMonkey. Hey, tell me with the rekluse clutch what happens when you fall off half way up a steep hill and the engine stops. Assuming the bike is still in 1st gear does it want to free wheel back down the hill like it is in neutral when you try and pick the bike up? Or does the rekluse engage and stop the bike rolling backwards?

The bike rolls backwards. When properly setup whether the engine stops or it drops to idle, the clutch disengages. If you are on a hill then the bike would roll backwards, so you either need to use the throttle or the brakes. If you drop the bike, yes it will roll if it can when the engine stops or drops to idle. The only time that was a problem for me, so far was when I dropped the bike on a downhill a week ago and it stopped then I had to get the bike up and down the hill. Other than that I generally just modulate the throttle or use the brakes, usually the throttle. There are times though where I have flipped the bike because between the Rekluse, the torque and tractability of the bike, the bike just kept finding traction but I did not have weight over the front wheel. There are also times when I *want* to roll backwards but the Rekluse is dragging a bit (it needs to be adjusted) and I have to work against it.

The other issue of course is no bump starting.

But for me those are minor things and most of the time (99%) I love the Rekluse.
