I Ride:
Force Ride Oz 2008 Location

Hi OzBergers,

Cafey18 and I and one or two others are meeting up this weekend at the DSMRA AGM, that is Dual Sport Motorcycle Riders Association Annual General Meeting. http://www.dsmra.asn.au/

No doubt we will be discussing Husabergs and the 2008 ride. The venue this weekend is Wallerawang, which is about 100 km South of Louee. It is apparently offering magnificant riding, a mix of fire trails and single tracks to suit all standards of riders. We are staying at a caravan park cabin complex which sounds good too.

If this is as good as it sounds, and subject to further discussion, could this interest us as a venue in lieu of Louee? We'll know more by Sunday night.

The key issue is that we can only have registered bikes, whereas Louee will take whatever we bring, including the kids on Peewees.

So, in line with our democratic process to date, another poll. If we get some poll responses over the next few days, we'll be able to discuss this weekend with an idea of whether its a realistic option.

Cheers
Steve

I would much prefer Wallerawang to Louee. Louee must be one of the nastiest rocked out mongrel places on the east coast, I've never liked it and always hated racing there.

RE: Re: RE: Force Ride Oz 2008 Location

OK folks, it's official !!!!! After the DSMRA ride and meeting at Wallerawang it was unanimous that the Oz Force Ride 2008 should be held there instead of Louee.
Most riders expressed that it was the best single trail they had ridden. Not much rock ( which will make the Geelong boys happy) and lots of gravel and loam trails. A great mixture of fast fire trails to very tight single track. Some very challenging greasy hills or take the easy way round to the top. Really a bit of a hidden Mecca !!!! One great trail we rode was called the Jurassic trail up on the Newnes Plateau just North of Wallerawang. This had to be the most fun, variable and scenic trail I have ever been on.
The accommodation is great and is owned and operated by a dirt biking family. Check it out at http://blackgoldcabins.com.au/
Having stayed and ridden at both Louee and Wallerawang, it took Steve and myself about 10 seconds to realise that this was the perfect site for the Force Ride 2008. The poll indicates that people are happy with registered bikes only. Every one rides at their own risk however rides will be run with a lead rider and a sweep rider and using the cornerman system to ensure no one gets lost.
Comments please.

Cheers
Garry.

Having ridden, Louee, Newnes, Sunny Corner and Dark corner previously I whole heartedly agree that Wallerawang is a much better location than Louee. I presume some of the single track will be in the Rydal area as well? This is the one place I haven't ridden and I'll look forward to getting into there.

RE: Re: RE: Force Ride Oz 2008 Location

Hi Craigy,
Yes we are of the same opinion on the location. Yes some of the riding is in the Rydal and Lidsdale area and is very good.
I have spoken to Rob from the Black & Gold Cabins and he is very keen to have a UHE ride there. I am having another discussion with Rob tonight so more details will follow. The proposed dates for the ride are Fri 23/Sat 24/Sun 25 May 2008. This will also be confirmed very soon.

Cheers
Garry.
