FORCE RIDE

i know we all think our back yard is the best place in the world to have a force ride but i feel that nobody should have the right to call something the 'force ride'?

did this get group approval or did schwim have a looksee?

what i'm saying is that we all knew that the first force ride dragged 3-5 extra along because of the legend that is MOAB. breathtaking, stunningly beautiful, wild, aaltitude, space, quality over quantity!

you could stop and take breathtaking photos and the memory of it will live with me forever.

but it seems to me the name is being hijacked.

if we were to stand back for a moment, i think we could define what it is and what we want. what's the best quality one we could do?

the first force ride had long been anticipated and i'm quoted as saying tht IT ONLY JUST WORKED. I'VE SAID THAT GROUPS OF 7 BIKES HAD JUST THREE HUSEYS IN THEM AND therefore 4 strangers in a group.

velo and brendan are regular members, john availed himself to all. le frog and one-lung have since joined the frat. but really, come on, any less and it wouldn't have worked!

three groups means plenty of riders needed. plenty of UHE riders needed.

people have only so much time and money and it's far more important that we should call one ride per year and all be there than to call two or three and say that some visited some!

can we have another name for this trip. can we stop making every single ride THEEEE ride!! it's a gathering/a whoop of gorillas, a murder of crows, a school of whales!

maybe once per year is fine and hell! living abroad and not coming over doesn't give me the right to say too much but what i want you to promise out of this is that i can come over every second year to THEEE ride of the year, to see you all, to have EVERYONE there!

to do that we have to be less parochial and stop talking about where we live but rather "where is the next, best, most stunning ride".

i think you'll get everyone there if you announce only one force ride, every second year, at a georgous location with stunning scenery and plan, plan and plan again well ahead!

dealers and barrett marketing-supermototeam will be our guests and not our organisers. they will sponsor it if they wish but not tell us what we do at our gathering!

there's nothing stopping a percentage having an SM race per day, there's nothing stopping us having a UHE enduro on the second day!

it can be done but i still haven't heard anyone else say how close the first came to being the last! it only needed bob, tuts, fry or json to be missing and the thing would have been deviod of atmosphere!

there's nothing wrong with calling MOAB again! just make sure we have a lit undercover canopy! UHE barbie with food not put up by one poor fool but with everyone paying before we go and somebody doing the beans and somebody else doing the salad!

THAT'S HOW TO DO IT EVEN BETTER!
I PROPOSE THE MOTION THAT WE LOOK AT THE SPRING/SUMMER OF 2007.

that we get a place and date agreed and work at it, dilligently over the next 1.5 years. put on something that we all want to go to and something that the dealers will come and join us at without hijacking OUR gathering!

we have a courtious and warm relationship with the importer and let's continue to make it grow.

because i don't know your continent that well i make the following proposal

we ride in florida or alabama over the debris (that one's a joke ok!)-great course-not too popular with the natives!

ok

canada, stunning mountains, naturally rich and green, less hassle and the yanks and i get a stamp in the 'ol passport!

colorado, 10,000ft stunning views, good links north and south-not so good west to east?

let's go where there are no people, no sheeyut, no hassles and enjoy the warmth of the sun and the rides and the views. let's think outside the box and all agree that were going to be there!

thankyou gentlemen

You have several good points Taffy. It sounds like we need perhaps a different designation from a "Force Ride" ride to a group or even regional ride.
As in the ride I am trying to promote, you will notice "submitted for your approval". It's not that I need anybodys approval to ride, as I will be doing everything stated on thoses dates anyway's. I felt the timing, location and proximity to a large amount of riders would be a good fit for a "ride". The fact that it is put around a large urban area does make it a plus for most peolple I feel.
I do have to admit that Moab was magical in a sense, and alot of that magic will be hard to duplicate. Even though there were problems in Moab, we worked through them and made the best of all situations as a group. As like everyone else, I made a few mental notes as to what and what not to do on the next "ride"

You thoughts please, gentleman.

FIDDY CENTS worth

Baumgardner campground on the south fork of the Boise River July 07.
concrete hot tub!!!! camping spots in the campground and out side the camp ground for those who want to be next to the river with no rules.
Been there done it and it has a trail system that I have found second to none. From beginnier easy trails to sh*t your pants goat trails along a 300ft clif.
Fishing also available at your front door.
We could even have the food catered if we wanted.

baumgartner is pretty dang awesome riding. i dunno about 'easy' trails. i have scouted out a few for taking the gf riding, but they are just barely what i can take her on and still get fed dinner.

maybe by then i'll actually own a berg. or maybe a husky. or maybe a gasgas. or maybe i'll still be riding my beat-to-shit 300exc. or maybe since taffy's being such a whiny little brandanme-bitch i'll take my trailmap and go home, crying like a schoolgirl the whole way.

Are we looking for the definition of " Force Ride" or what.

It would seem to me that a gathering of Berg riders is always a good thing.

Buamgartner is a great place to gather but there is Stolley Meadows,Silvercreek Plunge or Deadwood Resivoir areas to just name a few of the great riding areas to ride in Idaho.

Silvercreek Plunge has a large swiming pool heated by hot spring and cabins to rent and great off site & primative camping.

A Force ride may not be able to accomidate all as for the ride berger is trying to set up I think it is great again any group of Berg riders is a good thing.

Just my 2 cents

Fellow Bergites,

I would have to agree with Taffy on this one as setting up more than one ride a year can be a financial hardship to anyone that is married and/or has children.... even the single folk for that matter. I could not even attempt to make this a yearly ritual as I would be castrated and left for the flesh picking buzzards when I try to muster up $2000 dollars and a week off of vacation to ride dirt bikes with fellow mates only to leave my wife at home to watch over four kids!!! Regional rides for Husa-fanatics is a great way to socialize and feel the power of the Berg community but to expect a pilgrimage for so many twice or even once a year is not-doable from a financial standpoint as well as making sure the family is still together when you return to your dwelling place. I think the title "Force Ride" should be reserved for a "once every other year" ride that is talked about and possibly decided on at the previous "Force Ride". This would give a two year planning period for orginization, fund raising scouting reports, and personal planning. Regional rides should still be posted but with the expectation that it is only a regional ride and that many members will probably not be able to make it and should not be expected to but are welcome none the less. (I am not assuming that berger had these intentions at all, just writing this for clarification sake as this is my opinion on the subject being discussed.) With that being said, I am still "a go" for the Arizona ride in February and would love to be in attendance at a "date to be announced Force Ride". My $.02.

Regards,

I think you are making this too bureaucratic. Who cares if everyone calls their ride a force ride, or has the official force reefer ride? The mother of all force rides could be voted on, or decided by attendance, and have official t-shirts and merchandise (I still use my BMG Force Mug everyday). Having a mother of all force rides in some stupendous spot, biannually, sounds like a good idea. I also like the idea of having smaller, regional force rides. I do not know if I will be able to make next years force ride, as I am saving up my vacation, in case bobzilla does the transam trail.
