I Ride:
Berger 1. If I thought I wouldn't make it worse I would try
2. Factory tires, Perelli Scorpions I think and 15 pounds.
3. After a month on a two stroke I suspect I was riding it wrong.
Still if it's cliff hanger single track I am not so sure I am good enough to use the 650.

Here some photo links.
These are some of the trails that I will be riding during the Force 3 ride. I prerode them last week.

Regards

This trail is at the top of a crest line. It runs about 10 miles. I will be riding 5 to 6 miles of it.

From atop the crest we will be dropping down a few thousand feet before we meet up with the road near the bottom of the pass.

Some of the sights along the way.

The trail is not without a trap or two.

A typical water crossing near the bottom.

This loop is a mix of double track, forest road and single track. It's about evenly split between the different types of riding. The loop is not more than 70 miles long. Elevation is between 12,000ft and 9,000 ft.

For the preride I used National Geographic maps : Trails Illustrated numbers 139, 130 and 132.

I will be back up in a couple of weeks to preride some more trails.
Not to hijack this thread. Or to point you in another direction. But we just had a rally for all types of bikes in that area. I have a link to photos of the Taylor park area. On the west side of Taylor park is Cement Creek. I think that some of you might be riding in that area. The riding there is world class. Some of my rides are more to the south of the Taylor park area. Taylor park offers single track, double track, Mountain passes and more.
Take a look at some of the photos that some of the West Fest riders posted. They will give you an idea of what the Gunnison area has to offer.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=491970

West Fest riders came into the area from the east. Some of the more mild road photos were taken over in the Four Mile OHV area. These were east of Hwy 285.

I posted the photos because they are a good mix of what one can expect while riding in this area. Some of the single track that I will be riding is close to epic passes like Williams pass. Williams pass just opened up for the season last weekend. Some of our riders were the first ones up it. It's a hard pass with big rewards for reaching the top.
I can adjust my riding to meet the requests of the guys in my group.

If you come to Gunnison you will not want to leave. Fritz says that it offers the best riding anywhere. I've never been everywhere, so I don't know. I know that I like riding in the Gunninson/Crested Butte/Taylor Park area.

Thanks for the invite, DezDuster ... it looks like I'm in.

Unfortunately, the wifey-poo won't be riding with us as she broke her arm riding up in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. I am working on her to come along to help with the driving. (grin). Hopefully there will be some spots where she can get in a little day hike so that she doesn't go crazy. (grin)

BTW, we are hauling the dirty bike behind a Subaru WRX so will need to get a cabin or motel. I've been reading all of the threads - but still not sure what the final spot is.... Tall Texan?

Any recommendations on a cabin or nearby motel? Much appreciated!

Cheers! E-Ticket

The Tall Texan cabins are currently sold out. This the alternate place if you need a cabin.
Tell them you are with the Husaberg group.

How's this for bizzarre....

I'm currently at the Honda VFR Summer Summit Rally in Dillon, Colorado. Rode my VFR over from Portland, OR (1441 miles doing the twisties).

Start wandering back on home on Sunday (via Mt. Rushmore, Glacier NP, Lolo Pass, Idaho, Eastern Oregon..).

Then load the up the Scooby, trailer, and dirtybikes and drive back to Gunnison for F3! Oof.
It's a tough job but someone has to do it, eh?

Cheers! E-Ticket
