2001 FE501e

Good evening and greetings fellow Husaberg enthusiasts, I have recently purchased a 2001 FE501e, and am trying to restore it to its former glory, however, I'm finding it difficult to locate parts, mainly plastics, can anyone tell me if 2005 model plastics will fit, as the moto shop I have been dealing with can only source 2005 and newer parts, or is there someone in Australia that can supply parts for the older models, and does anyone have access to a 2005 parts manual, as I'm tearing my hair out tracking down parts, thanks for any help

Hi Wallie

are you the 'Wal' who everyone tells their problems and then he tells everyone else in the Village and then there's no problem?

I hold the most stuff for those mate.

as for plastics
I sold my last 2001 seat last week.
you can't get the shrouds
you can't get the tailpiece
you can get black frame guards
inner top and bottom mudguard
rear licence plate holder
fuel tanks have stopped
I can do 2002 seats
I have genuine 2001-2002 front mudguards in blue and the supports but the supports are in black. (NOS)
I can do fork guards open backed in black only
I can do the later front enduro mudguard 2003+ in blue yellow or black.
i can do the headlamp wrap in blue only (NOS).

its a tough ask at the moment and the other thing is, post is expensive worldwide at the moment.....

cheers

Taffy

2001-2008 models are of the same generation and most parts are interchangeable.

All the manuals are here on this site Service Manuals - Husaberg Forum

John Prior's is the go to Husaberg shop in NSW https://www.facebook.com/Orange-Moto...AedoLu6uO9ccVx
He makes a water pump seal upgrade kit that many are very happy with.

The 2001 model was the first model with the new engine. It has some issues. One is that you will probably never get it to e-start properly and the suspension was pretty grim. With that being said it can be made into a capable bike. If you had your heart set on a bike that e-started reliably then you really need to get a 04-08 model as these had most of the bugs worked out.

You could make this a good kick start only bike by using the 04-08 cam and autodecompression device which you can then eliminate the kick start activated decompression system as the auto system works so well.
Adding Taffy's Easy Start Kit too https://www.taffmeisters.co.uk/produ...oducts_id=1496
I would call or e-mail Taffy before ordering to be sure you are getting the most up to date version for you bike as he is always improving these carb kits.

Also a Dual Valve Spring kit will make it easier to kick start https://www.taffmeisters.co.uk/produ...oducts_id=3075

Before removing the electric starter for good try the above mods and see if maybe it will e-start. You never know. If your bike is actually a late model 2002 model your chances of it e-starting will have improved 90%.

Do your homework and know exactly what you have before proceeding.

Thanks very much for the help, I had heard that the electric start was not much good, and have been contemplating removing all of the electrical components, and making it kick start only, and its very good news that some of the parts from the later ones will fit a 01 model, it was in pretty average condition when I purchased it, however, it's slowly looking like a bike again, the auto decomp setup on the kick start is a bit difficult to use, I have never had a bike with a kick start on the left so that probably doesn't help, can the auto decomp setup be ditched and replaced with a manual lever on the handle bars, as some of the later bikes have.

Wal

these will start on the button
don't remove the leccy start stuff
my facebook page is full of bikes e starting
i do a video on 'the 10 things that make a Husaberg start'
auto decomp is on the cam
kickstart decomp is on the kick
manual decomp is at that manual lever up on the left bar

I'll take my sense of humour home with me though if you don't mind. I don't want it wasted.............

Thanks Taff, your sense of humour is not wasted, ill check out the website, the poor old bike hasn't had much love for a while by the look of it, the list of bits missing or that require replacing is a great deal longer than the good bits,
Thanks from Taffy
