I'm looking at dual sport kits(blinker lights, and horn) and Tusk seems to be the least expensive. I already installed a mirror and rear brake light switch when I got the bike. The Tusk kit is plug and play. Might be time to let me old friend go(03 EXC350)

The more I ride my FE250, the more I like it! It's fantastic in the gnarly, rocky trails.

I rode a Turkey run this past weekend. Lots of roads, dirt roads, jeep(4 x 4) roads and of course serious rocky trails in the New England region of the USA. My FE250 handled everything really well. My riding buddies where riding an EXC350, EXC500 and a Husaberg FE350. Time to sell my 03 RFS KTM. My BERG handles the nasty stuff much better.

I Ride: 2010 FE450
I've run my 2010 FE 450 in a lot of dual sports but find it's a beast in the tight woods/single track (for me anyhow). I would LOVE to have a FE 250 for these type of DS rides.

CJ, What kind of mpg does your FE 250 get? Is it about 255 wet weight? Thanks

I think wet weight is around 250lbs. or so. It feels considerably lighter than my 03 RFS 350 which I just sold to a friend. I can ride the FE250 all day in relatively gnarly stuff without getting exhausted. It is a light feeling bike for a 4T imo. It's fun in rocky stuff and single track. Also, it doesn't tire me out like a larger displacement bike when riding all day. You have to be ready to twist the throttle, as you can't lug it like a 450 or 570. Surprisingly, it will lug a decent amount though. I get around 60 mpg if I'm not getting on the throttle constantly.

CJ,

I did get a new 2014 FE 250 and wow is it FUN! It's got a lot more power than I thought and feels so light. I rode it at Highland Park in N GA for the first time a couple weeks ago and they have some big climbs there and it just kept on going, I couldn't believe it. I can still feel the long wheelbase but you're right it's not as tiring as my 450 at the end of the day.

I got a map switch with it but couldn't find the connections, do you have one? Also got a rear brake light switch and like the map switch I think they gave me the wrong ones.

Not sure if I'll dual sport it as it really is a blast in the tight woods and I may just leave it alone (but I did wire in the key switch).

I never did install the map switch, but before I took it from the dealer, I had him reset the FI via the computer since he had the program and set my sag. The brake light switch I have installed is the EE(same as KTM of course) and it's plug and play. I never bothered with a key switch though. I have the tusk dual sport kit, which I may install this weekend. I'll take photos and post them so others can see the setup.
