But I own a 2016 Ktm 500 exc. And Im very happy with it and it does handle great. But it does not feel or handle any better than my 2005 Fe650. In fact to me they handle very similar in a lot of ways.
So in my opinion again your Titanium frame would need to be pretty much and exact match in geometry or else you will probably make it worse.

There you go! See, I was thinking of get new exc 500. Decided not to and went for these two. Other being '07 Exc 525, got it before I found da Berg. How do your bikes compare, power, handling overall feel?

When I said it doesnt handle any better I didnt mean bad. Because both handle awesome.
The 500 with FI is very smooth and tractable with plenty of power. The 650 berg does come with a little more vibration. But with the power it does give you more pretty much wherever you need it. That over the top power. But the 500 does not have the feeling of lacking. It has plenty in all situations.
And Btw. The best handling Ktms are the newest ones. Ive ridden an 02 and several friends that had 07s confess they dont compare to the new ones after riding them.
The new 500 feels great right out of the box. I had 180hrs on my Husaberg enduro before I sold it last year. I still have my Supermoto. But when I did decide to buy the 2016 FI Ktm500 I was immediately satisfied with the bike when I rode it. It was pretty cool because I spent time, mods and setup on my Husaberg that I put 180hrs on. And this new Ktm felt very similar with rider feel and the way it drops into turns.

And the reasons why I bought the KTM?
I took a break from off road for a year after I sold my 05 Husaberg 650. Too many bikes.
But I kept my 06 Husaberg 650 supermoto conversion with all the enduro take offs.
I saved up for a new bike but was set on having FI for elevation changes and just wanting something new. And a Ca street legal enduro
I had no interest in buying a carbed Ktm or else I never would have sold my Berg which is better than all the carbed KTMs.
And as we know Husaberg had been discontinued.
So it was either Beta, KTM or Husqvarna. Because I'm moving on with the future of what they have to offer in new bikes.
The Beta isn't big enough with parts suppliers and dealers for me.
The Husqvarna didn't have back up kickstart.
So it was the KTM.

I got my katum because I heard that this was the most reliable year/ model combo. I see big bore and some other stuff down the road. Thanks for sharing helpful info.

Ntn mains is brand name or acronym for something else? I was thinking about starting a new post about parts suppliers and have all listed there. What do you think about that? Would be good to avoid overseas shipping cost. Another krazy idea - 3 d printed magnesium cases? When you are retired all crazy ideas would be super hobby, don't you think? Better than sitting at the beach I think.

Well you did buy it for good reason. The 07 Ktms are known to be reliable.

It is interesting how guys with some experience will arrive at the same ideas to solve the problem. Reading through Bushies posts about main bearings I thought I would use spherical roller bearings. Reading more I see that is the best solution already been done with excellent results, just expensive. I also had similar idea to axpand the size of the clutch cover to hold more oil. What was the reason behind doing Kokusan project? Improved reliability and power? Down the line I wouldn't be surprised to find myself doing big bore and porting polishing to my katum.

Unhappy Hey Bushie! One question.

I have been doing lots of reading here. I like a lot of the things that you have done with your bikes. Quick question, older Bergs had ignition that was not the best, is this the reason for doing kokusan ignition? Or was it to increase oil capacity? I thought that ignition was dry- no oil there, did you drill oil passage holes in there ? Cover really good. Something special. Did you make any more since then? I in turn got my knobbies , waiting to put them on. Self employed sooooo busy. Thanks for any info.
