Extended tank for the 2012 TE300

Hi all,

If you read my previous thread you would have seen I was deciding on a TE250/300 or an EXC250/300. I'm still undecided, as I've read the KTM got an improved frame in 2012, where the berg is still running the older frame. I think about this stuff too much!

My other concern with the berg is aftermarket parts. It's easy to find parts for the KTM, especially 3rd party equipment, but as the berg is a much smaller market it's much harder to find parts that fit. My main concern is the fuel tank. I do a lot of long range rides, and my 390 with the subframe tank is a dream when it comes to range, 180kms and I still never see the reserve light.

Does anyone have a larger tank they are running on a 2012 TE300? I can find heaps for the KTM, but not much for the berg. There are a couple on cyclebuy, but they all state they will not work with the stock radiator shrouds, and the seat needs to be modified as well. I really just want a tank that bolts on a stock bike.

If I can find a tank, then I'm going to get a TE300, they are around 20% cheaper to a comparable KTM so I think they are a bargain.

So anyone with a tank, please let me know the brand and what sort of range you are achieving.

Thank you!

I don't do fire trails all that often, only to get between loops. Most of the riding is flowing or tight single, with some gnarly hills in the mix. I have friends that ride ktm exc's and one that rides a beta 300rr, they all need to carry spare fuel or else they would run out of fuel. A typical ride for us is 100 - 120kms, and if things go wrong it's very nice to have some backup. I would not be comfortable with a stock tank.
