My bike was running great until I heard a bizarre sound from the top, then suddenly, the engine died.

Took a look on the left side: ugly oily mess under the tank. Then I saw something protruding from the rocker cover, right over the timing chain. It was the "H" from the word "Husaberg". The other letters were AWOL.

I found the shreds on the trail. One says "USAB", the other "G__" (there's about two white spaces after the lonely "G". I could not find the "ER" part. Picking up the pieces, the images of Jacky crawling on the back of the Lincoln Continental in Dallas came back to my mind.

Well, as I said, one day this bike would explode, and that might be the end of it, but coming home, I dropped the oil, removed the tank and saw that the chain was still there. The kickstart will turn by hand although meets some resistance, but it may be fixable.

I am not in the mood to open the cover now, I'll do that tomorrow (right now you can imagine my mood).

I will let you know!

I'm crying for ya Froggy I know you have been working hard. My guess would be the nut came off the chain tensioner blade. But on the brightside, it would be a great time to upgrade the E-start. Good luck and my the VISA be with you.

Oh, here, I almost fixed it! I bet I can get that "ER" part, then just a bit of JB Weld and it will look like new.

i hate to say it froggy but i'm guessing that a locknut has come off and if it's any consolation; that's what happened to me about 3 years ago.
