Chain & Sprockets

<CENTER>After riding my new '03 FE400E for a couple of weeks now I'm starting to dig into it bit more & discovered that it has a 15 tooth front & 42 tooth rear..not exactly what I'm looking for in the narrow, muddy, rocky trails up here in New England.

Now I can find rear sprockets no problem thru Parts Unlimited but no front.

Anybody know a good source?

And what are you trailriders using for sprockets?

Thanks guys!

My 02 fe501e came stock 15/48 and felt too tall for trail riding so I went
with a 14 counter sprocket. I got the sprocket from motoexotica.

I use the racer x speciall.
It's like 90 bones.
You get a steel rear sprocket and a o-ring chain and steel front.
I run 13/52
Remember the lower front gear you have the weaker it is. I run a 13 with no problem for years and this set up. Only had to adjust once after intal stretch. I ride every weekend.

I dont get what you mean? The smaller the front sprocket the "weaker it is''? With 13/52 you must be in top gear within 50 yards of your car?

Actuly I cant keep traction with a 14/49. I went to this for hill climbs and insane exceleration. I top out around 85+. The smaller the front gear the weaker because it has alot of torque on it. So if you have a hige powered bike like the berg it's a bad idea. They break teeth real easy. Now if there biggere there much stronger more metal I guess.
