Can I spot face the surface while in situ? (after removing whatever I need to get to it). If so, how do I do it?
You may lap the clutch cover while removed to insure it is flat.
Then, can I just slide an O ring onto the decomp lever after the spring - then push it all through the casing etc? What/how much end float should I check for?
It is indeed possible to provide a small counterbore for which to install an O-Ring. However, if the oil level is correct the amount of oil purged via the de-comp shaft is minimal. The end float I am refereing to is that of the crank and transmission shafts and only applies to main case machining.
