Hello. Tried searching but couldn't find anything on my problem. I have an '06 FE550 set up for SM. On occasion I get a grinding noise when releasing the clutch from a stop in 1st gear. Doesn't happen all the time and only from a stop. All other gear changes are fine. Seems more frequent when warmed up. I have the technical manual and couldn't find anything in the troubleshooting. I was hoping to get some guidance on diagnosing the problem.

Thanks!

Is it rev a depending thing?
Say you give it more throttle to take of from a junction or less and it appears to the exact point of almost full disengagement?
Or the "meat " of the biting point?

Asking you because i get something like that very rarely in my fs650 if I am hesitant with the release of the clutch. And my mechanic said it's normal .

Amount of throttle doesn't seem to matter and although I haven't put a bunch of hours on this bike it has just recently started. Noise seems to come on about mid point of clutch release through full release.

Mine pretty much stopped doing it afte the engine rebuild. It has done it once again after the 25 hr mark. Open the clutch cover and measure if everything is in spec disc, plates etc. If it is and the hydraulic pump - slave is in good condition with fresh fluid and no leaks ,I would forget it and move on.
