Sunday fun modifying a swing arm.
Had a bit of machining fun yesterday along with the compulsary bull shit stories and some "Lussekaka" (Swedish saffron kake, namnam).
On the shelf was this swingarm that was in good nick but it was for a narrow cased KTM 450 SX -08. This is the same exact casting as the 570 but too narrow to accept the 570 engine.
So I brought it over to a friend that has a lathe and some other nifty bits of machinery to have a look at it, but (of course!) things got out of hand and we ended up machining it to fit the 570.
Idea was to make a pair of nylon bushings to accept a 19mm steel rod, this in turn would be fitted with a cutting steel, that would first cut the full diameter and secondly cut the inner portion for the distance.

Stuff manufactured:

Setting the cutting diameter:

Exactly, I havent done much of it since I moved to this location a year ago, such a blast to discuss how to do it and then actually make the tools and finally make it happen, very satisfying and FUN.
Most likely the inhereted blacksmith is VERY happy inside hehe.

Swing arm is in the bike sucessfully :)
Bearing distance (spacer eng?) with the endcaps fully together no play in the swingarm = goal, so we managed to measure the depth to cut it accurately, very happy!
