Husaberg 570 head gasket

I have blown my second head gasket in 60h of riding. The usual place next to the water jacket so compression is leaking out when going WOT.

Have been reading about copper gaskets but i cant find someone who still produces them. Anyone knows who stocks them? Or perhaps someone got a CAD drawing so i can cut my own.

hi borslin

copper is ok in the 570, the other solution tried was to take the OEM MLS gasket apart and spray hylomar between the layers

removing the stay between the head and the frame also helps

if copper doesn't work try copper with a wire ring embedded in the top of the liner, if that doesn't work try a 4mm wide copper fire ring with a wire ring embedded in the liner and use a fibre gasket for the remaining sealing area.

thats what id be doing straight up. see "jbs 700 kit on 80mm crank"

Try SCE Gaskets. I believe they have one for the 570. It's listed as a part for the KTM 520.

disclaimer: I haven't cross-referenced the p/n's so you should do that yourself.

Thanks for a good thread already. One mildly off the wall question; I hope it's helpful rather than offtopic: Is it worth it to go to head studs instead of bolts in cases like this? And in general with the 570 for greater peace of mind?

In other words, will head studs alone allow increased clamping pressure and better sealing irrespective of gasket type? Or do they bring only benefits with a gasket with certain properties?

more pressure from the bolts almost always helps regardless of gasket type

the composite gaskets I use (copper/fibre) have the best chance of working in a high stress situation

Which hylomar are you using? The only one i have is the universal blue. 1800 km of riding this weekend so a MLS with some hylomar would be the temporary solution

Ask cometic about a hybrid fiber gasket with a copper fire ring for a 100mm KTM xc4, it is a custom piece but ive been through the copper/hylomar etc etc routine and nothing compares to the current setup.
Thanks from bushmechanic

hylomar gasket jointing compound hyl150

use very very sparingly and drop the oil after first 2-3min warm up as well as cleaning all filter screens its seriously gunky stuff

if the composite ktm gasket bergsmlerg mentions is available get that 150% .. nothing compares to this design
