I agree husabelg the skill with that kind of creation is in creating a weld seam capable of retaining fluids, something i haven't always been able to achieve particularly with fuel containers

The 4 minute test run revealed an internal cooling water leakage into the oil. After dismantling the engine, I saw the valve buckets were already showing signs of wear. I believe the repaired cams were welded with a filler material not compatible with the lifters... So, now I have chased down new lifters and on Monday I'll be sending them to get DLC-coated. It's a dog's life in the thumper business...

Wiser people are telling me that if the valve buckets are polished, the DLC coating will be better... It better be true!
