What was that noise?? (video)
I've been finally (after 4 years) started to bond with my beloved Berg. things were going great lately but this past weekend I heared some scary noises and I wanted your help trying to figure this out.

The noise is coming from the transmission and only happens when I try to start moving in very hard conditions like on a very steep hill or when the rear tire is stock beyond a big stone.

If you will, check this video and go all the way to the 4th minute. you'll hear that grinding noise a couple of times. sounds klike it is coming from the clutch. I never had this moise before and don't know where to start looking. can it be due to not enough trans fluid? not enough engine oil? wore out clutch? (the bike has around 55 hours).

That was your clutch, pretty normal for a Burg clutch when slipped under load.
Just keep riding.. :)

Sure is reassuring to hear that.

OK bud yes that is your clutch for sure. it isn't a big problem so just keep riding. we have had some success by shimming it out.

suggest next time it is down that you consider two new C clips, a thicker shim behind the entire basket so that the basket is reasonably tight (there is nothing holding the basket see?) and look for warped plates etc so that you build it back up nicely! oh and stand up more you lazy git! :D :D :D :D

finally, I do a jetting kit that stops all that stalling and starting.

I'd agree with the guys:

A. Stand up and grip the bike with your knees

b. Get on the gas a little more and enjoy it, I'm guessing you may be new to trail riding which if it's the case is great, but the bike responds better to a smoother, faster flow, you should find that on the same trail, by going faster the ride and control is far smoother and easier on you.

Either way good luck and enjoy

Looks like a fantastic place to ride.

Your vids look a lot like mine, from a rider perspective. I'm not at all comfortable standing since I'm tall, but I found that sitting forward on the saddle and leaning forward a little made a tremendous difference. I rode a lot better and worked a lot less. The front doesn't wander so much and the bike handles the way it's supposed to.

As for the noise, I've never heard that one, but it's good to know it's normal.

Let me throw out a question - what's it sound like if you accidently get your thumb on the starter while it's running? 'Cause if I had to guess I would have thought it would make a sound like that.
