Hard clutch pull

I recently noticed that my clutch lever is getting really hard to pull. I just pulled the clutch cover off to repair the shifter selection plates again(stuck in second gear). When I pulled the clutch apart I could find nothing wrong. When putting it back together I noticed that the clutch push rod was sticking out farther than I remembered. I opened the bleeder valve and released the pressure and then I pushed the rod back in with my thumb. The lever was now easier to pull. I pulled the lever a few times without the clutch installed and noticed the lever was getting hard to pull again. I was wondering if the push rod is short and over time the clutch cylinder is getting to the end of its stroke. If the rod is short the clutch springs and pressure plate can't push the cylinder back to its starting position. Does anyone know the length of the rod or what else could cause this.

When I first read this I thought it was a cable problem for the clutch. Since this bike has a master cylinder and slave cylinder for the clutch I think your problem is there, either the master or the slave. The system may have a blockage witch is preventing it from working properly. A good flushing out may solve your problem, replace the fluid and try again. That might solve it if not you might have to did a little deeper. Works similar to the brake system, just don`t get the fluids mixed up. Hope this gives you a idea.
