Although it depends on how well you take care of your bike. check out this thread entry I made

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12766&p=107219&hilit=Dustbite# p107219

And this thread by Haskell: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14210&p=118546#p118546

I won't be planning on taking my motor down until about 400 hours unless something goes awry.

if you go by the thread on katoomtalk then it's worth saying you can never take for granted the way rings sit on a piston. I THINK I get all my rings separate from the piston anyway.

it could be that the spring and the rings aren't sat right on the scraper ring. the other thing is that the headgasket isn't sealing right and the smoking isn't smoke. a leak into the cylinder after each overnight stop?

Hey Taffy,

For what it's worth, I had the puff of smoke after the over night sit on start up, and solved it by correcting the oil height on my 09. I had too much oil in it.
