Re: ORANGEBERG WEEPHOLE KIT

Installed this kit a while ago and now I'm seeing some foamy oil in
the sight glass and also same thing coming out of the weep hole. I
assume I'm getting coolant in the oil and that might be the water pump
o-ring but why would I still have oil coming out of the weep hole with the kit installed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

Re: ORANGEBERG WEEPHOLE KIT

If the weephole is open then oil and coolant can't mix. That's why its there. Seems like the seal isn't sealing, so needs trouble shooting.

There is a 'O' ring on the cover that seals the coolant flow from the pump to the cases. If its not installed properly, coolant will get into the oil.

Re: ORANGEBERG WEEPHOLE KIT

would i need to purchase any special tools (pullers etc to install this kit properly)? Should I upgrade my clutch while im in there? I saw just a tiny film of oil around my weephole, but its not leaking yet, my bike hasnt been ridden much, Its an 02 though and I cannot say how much it was ridden before me. from what I can tell I need to replace an O ring, water pump seal, oil seal, and a bearing for prevative maintenance. also, I have notice the bottom of my cases are a little wet under the front drive sproket, is there an oil seal behind that sproket that is easily replaced or is this (Normal Seepage?) ....

Re: ORANGEBERG WEEPHOLE KIT

The only special tool required is something to protect the seals from the circlip groove on the shaft when you assemble. John includes a piece of heat shrink tube, preshrunk, to do this. You might also want a suitably large socket to use to press the bearing carrier into the cover. Its all straightforward, and the biggest problem people have is getting the kickstart to work again, gotta make sure it all goes in right. And don't forget the O ring for the coolant return, some have been known to leave it out, or damage it.

There is a seal under the css, and simple enought to replace after removing the sprocket, retained by a circlip.
