The only special tool required is something to protect the seals from the circlip groove on the shaft when you assemble. John includes a piece of heat shrink tube, preshrunk, to do this. You might also want a suitably large socket to use to press the bearing carrier into the cover. Its all straightforward, and the biggest problem people have is getting the kickstart to work again, gotta make sure it all goes in right. And don't forget the O ring for the coolant return, some have been known to leave it out, or damage it.
There is a seal under the css, and simple enought to replace after removing the sprocket, retained by a circlip.
