Revloc Dyna Ring Test Day at DSA

Hey guys,

I finally got around to installing the Dyna Ring in my 2010 FE390 and testing it at our secret (ok not so secret) test track. The Cliffs Notes version is installation was a BREEZE. Anyone can do it and it takes all of 15 minutes...start to finish....seriously.

I tested a bunch of different spring combinations. Adding or removing springs lets you effective lower or raise your stall speed. More springs, more resistance against the balls and higher engagement rpm. Less springs, lower resistance and lower engagement. You can run 2, 3, 4 or 6 springs. I ended up settling on 4. For me it gave me the best engagement point. Buttery smooth comes to mind.

The Bergs and the new Dyna Ring are going to get along just fine. I've attached a quick blast around my track. The sound is low but if you turn it up you can hear how smooth the clutch engages. I've also attached a picture of the brilliant little perch adjuster. This little gem lets you dial it all the way out for bump starts and back for auto. Amazing. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd prefer email as I respond to them quicker. Email address is:

Lee at dualsportarmory dot com

I'll try to get more install pics and woods video up soon as well as a FAQ for the Dyna Ring on our website.

Very interesting. Did the perch adjuster come as part of the kit? That would eliminate the no kick starter as a back up issue. My luck I'd knock the knob off the top of the cover.

What is the exact function of the Dyna Ring? Is it an auto clutch, or is it more a regular clutch that self disengages at low rpm?

Yes the perch adjuster is part of the kit and absolutely needed to make the Dyna Ring work. It's how you external adjust your gap.

Berger - the beauty of the Dyna Ring is its flexibility. You can run any combo of springs (2, 3, 4 or 6) to raise or lower your stall speed. 2 springs would have it functioning as an "anti-stall" device. 4 or 6 and it will slip just like an auto should. I settled on 4 for my 390. It just felt the best to me. I tried all the springs combos out. What I really liked about 4 springs is it smoothed out the already buttery 390 but still had instant power/hookup when I called for it with the right hand. Also full clutch disengagement throughout the rev range. Man it just flat rocks.

Nice. If I didn't already have a Rekluse I would consider it.

The thing I would like to see someone come out with is a dual clutch/LHRB lever like the Clake, that isn't frigging $1000! (USD)

I have a LHRB and I like it. I tried to keep the Magura clutch lever/cylinder, but I could not find any way to do that where it worked well with the LHRB.

So that knob compresses the fluid to slightly engage the clutch?

What the knob does is compress the mineral oil to push the pushrod/thrust to raise the pressure plate. It actually disengages the clutch. The Dyna Ring itself expands with revs to "take up" gap and lock her up.

Hi Lee, any idea if they are going to be doing a version for the 2008 550 model? and if so what s the cost likely to be?
cheers,
Jock.

Got it. We meant the same thing. Very interesting concept. Do they sell that knob portion separately? Some existing auto clutch owners might like that feature.

Jock - I know Revloc is working hard to get a bunch of models done. The good news is that there is a lot of models that "cross". Meaning that one ring works with another. I'll ask Alan about the 550.

Serp - I don't think he's selling them right separately at this time.
