KTM Parts offering limited Husaberg parts and bikes.

I just recently paid a visit to www.KTM-parts.com. I didn't like what I saw. They are offering the 390 bergs online at a discounted price. They are offering hard parts and Husaberg ware online. They also have a parts manual on line. It doesn't seem that they are currently offering OEM line parts. Yet.

This really bugs me.
For years I have had to go online to buy KTM parts simply because the online parts dealers undercut the local dealers. At first I didn't see any harm in that. However now one can't go to our local KTM dealers for anything. Seems the factory has undermined the dealer network to the point where my local dealers are not worth my time and effort to visit.

This is one reason that I converted to Husaberg. Great bikes, Great dealers, Full factory support.
I see online parts sales by KTM as starting us down a slippery slope. One that will erode the effectiveness of our local dealers.
I would encourage Husaberg/KTM to think twice before they turn Husaberg into the Wild West. I thought that when KTM took over the US distributor ship of Husabergs that they were going to tighten things up a bit. I thought that KTM off all people understood the value of a good dealer network. However, I guess that they don't have a clue.

In my opinion KTM / Husaberg blew it less than few years ago when they kicked some of their best enthusiast dealers to the curb, Motoxotica and Ron Bishop to name two.

KTM thought the economy would just keep growing and growing and they wanted the big box fancy dealers only to represent the brand.

The result you see here at KTM Parts.com is simply an out-gassing of the stench.

Hair,

KTM-Parts.com is simply a e-commerce store for long time KTM dealer "Appalachian Offroad MC LLC" that now sells Bergs. This is NOT a KTM / Husaberg North America web site. I also looked at the FE 390 they have listed on the site and it's priced at the correct MSRP.

Just a dealer advertising products for sale, on his own web site. No worries dude!

I did the same thing. Put it right in my basket until I realized that I didn't have the virtual funds to cover my new virtual Husaberg.

Husaberg went and built a brilliant motorcycle. I assume the mother ship would prefer to sell some of these bikes, so I guess the dealer network will be expanded. Such is the price of success. All of the dealers that stuck with Husaberg and weathered the 2001-2003 storm (and the resulting FIVE YEAR fall out) now get to compete with high volume Internet dealers that are adding Husaberg to their line which likely includes KTM already, from the trend I am seeing.

The sky's not falling, but things are changing. We'll see if it is for the better soon enough.

I know the guys at that shop. They are great guys. It is where I'm getting my FX from. One of the guys that works there is related to Rob Bush, the ex-president of KTM North America who passed away. Really great guys.

They have had some issues with their internet sales. I don't doubt the brick and mortar shop is good.

Rod Bush, not Rob, was the long time KTM president. His son is Robbie, the one that works at the dealership.

I've always been told that KTM-parts is part of KTM and not a dealer. If that is not true then I stand corrected.
As you might have gathered, I am very protective of our dealer network. I think that it is the best path forward to building a strong brand.

If you go to the website, www.ktm-parts.com and look at the very bottom of the page, you'll see.
