Husaberg distribution in Canada

Does anyone know a "confirmed" answer on Husaberg distribution in Canada? KTM bought them but doesn't seem to be doing anything with it. I've yet to see a real Husaberg dealer in Ontario. A little voice is saying "should have bought a Yamaha". Noooooo!

Barrett is the distributer for Canada and the U.S. They are based out of the Maritimes I think. There are a couple of dealers in B.C. and Alberta, so there has to be one in Ontario. http://www.bmgsports.com might have dealer listings

Off Road Cycle in Port Hope is the only Husaberg dealer I know of in Ontario. I think he is the only guy who actually might stock a new bike.

Woodys in Perth sold a few Bergs at one time as did Dave Armstrong at Daves Small Engines in Georgetown.

Josh, are you having any luck signing up any new dealers in Southern Ontario? I am surprised Jim at Cycle Improvements couldnt be convinced to take a few.

Another potential dealer would be Lightning Power Sports in St.Thomas. They are a new Kawi/Suzi dealer but the owners are real off road guys. I think the one partner may have even owned a Berg at one time. I know he has had lots of KTMs. Stay away from Inglis though, they are super nice guys but they refuse to stock any parts from any brand and they just do not know enough about off road to be a viable dealer.

Good Luck!

Thanks Scott,

I'll check into your suggestions.

We do have a rep working the territory for new dealers. I am in constant contact with him.

Ya, I had Cyle Improvements convinced, or so I thought, at Indy on a napkin, but they have their hands full right now. I havent given up.

Cheers

Josh, good luck with getting someone signed up.

Whoever you get, make sure it is someone who can "talk the talk" about the bikes with current and potential owners. Not just someone who brings in any bike line just to fill up a showroom. I think you are better to have no dealers in Ontario than ones who are not major off road enthusiasts.

If you can convince the Lightning guys to take the bikes, they would become the best dealer in Canada within a few months. (No offense to the other guys) I guarantee that! They are great guys who really support the sport in Ontario. Even if you have to cut a "special" deal with them, it would be worth it. Maybe you can give them a bike or two to try and sell for a few months to gauge the interest before they have to make a big financial committment?

I cant think of anyone in Ontario who supports the off road community more than Lightning, other than Machine Racing, and we both know that you will never convince Machine to take a Berg.

I know I have "busted your balls" in the past, but I sincerely hope that you can get these bikes to take off in Ontario. A good dealer will make your job a lot easier.

TTYL,
Scott

Scott,

Damnit man, quit beating around the bush! Do you, or do you not think that lightening would be a good move for BMG? I see your lips moving, but I can't figure out whether you think they're a)good or b)bad.

Let us know,

Good luck with those guys.

Another guy to consider might be Holeshot in Orangeville. He is already a KTM dealer and has a pretty loyal customer base. From talking to him, he is starting to realize that he needs to expand into the off road market, not just MX.

Also, that Orangeville area is fairly affluent and probably 99% of the new Husky owners live in the general area. I know of at least a dozen guys who have bought 04 Huskys and they all live in that area. (There must be something in the water!)

Just a suggestion. Dont think I am trying to tell you how to run your business.

If I can be of any assistance, email me and I will try to help you out. srocher@strat.net

A week ago Cycle Improvements told me they have sold Bergs in the past and could get parts if needed....

I told them they needed some yellow to offset there pumpkin showroom look!

You think with the growth of Super Motard in Ontario the Berg would be a hot item. KTM is offering a bike and full support for the season to 8 lucky SM riders who send in resumes, for $3000. The only thing that is not included is tires!

I hope you find some dedicated (only carry a max. of one other brand) dealers soon, cause Husky's are making inroads in Ontario. Saw at least 4 new ones at the Minipine enduro, and no bergs.
